Abstract
Description
【0001】

The process of filling the phosphor paste according to the display panel manufacturing method of the present embodiment will be described below with reference to FIGS. FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating the screen printing apparatus according to the present embodiment, and is a schematic diagram viewed from the side in the moving direction of the squeegee. [0021]
In the phosphor paste filling step in the display panel manufacturing method according to the present embodiment, the screen printing is performed by setting the squeegee mounting angle θ1 to be 100 ° or more as shown in FIG.
At this time, the force F1 for determining the discharge amount of the paste is represented by an arrow (vector) shown in FIG. The force F1 for determining the discharge amount of the paste is applied toward the inside of the
More preferably, the squeegee mounting angle θ1 is set in the range of 100 ° to 120 °.
[0022]
In addition, when the phosphor paste is filled as described above, if the screen plate opening is not made smaller than the display cell opening due to misalignment of the screen plate, the

In particular, in the case of a PDP in which the partition walls are formed in a lattice shape, the aperture ratio (= S2 / S1) represented by the ratio of the opening area S1 of the display cell to the opening area S2 of the screen plate as shown in FIG. Must be set to an appropriate value.
[0024]
When screen printing is performed with the squeegee angle set to be equal to or greater than 100 ° as in the above-described embodiment, it is desirable to set the aperture ratio in the range of 26% to 40%.
[0025]
【Example】
Next, specific examples will be described.
On the back glass substrate of the PDP, there are arranged in a direction orthogonal to the row electrode pairs X and Y, and in the form of strips provided between the column electrodes forming the display cells at the respective intersections to partition the discharge space and extend in the column direction. A space serving as a display cell is formed in a lattice shape by the vertical wall and the horizontal wall extending in the row direction.
[0026]
The opening of the space for one display cell was formed as shown in FIG. 7, the partition wall X1 of the vertical wall was 256 μm, the interval Y1 between the horizontal walls was 440 μm, and the display cell opening area S1 was 112640 μm 2 . Incidentally, for example, when the opening area S2 of the screen plate is 29900μm 2 2 (X2 = 130μm, the case of Y2 = 230 .mu.m), the aperture ratio (= S2 / S1) is about 26%.

[0028]
The screen plate has an aperture ratio (= S2 / S1) represented by the ratio of the opening area S1 of the display cell to the opening area S2 of the screen plate of 20%, 26%, 32%, 40%, and 45%. The mesh was formed by patterning a formed pattern with an emulsion so that
[0029]
After the filled phosphor paste was dried by raising the temperature from room temperature to 70 ° C. over about 30 minutes, the quality of the formed phosphor layer with respect to a predetermined thickness (25 μm ± 4 μm) was measured. .
Table 1 below shows the measurement results. In Table 1, x indicates less than a predetermined thickness, ○ indicates within a predetermined thickness, and ◎ indicates a small variation within a predetermined thickness.
[0030]
[Table 1]
[0031]
As shown in the measurement results shown in Table 1, in each case of the aperture ratio, the thickness of the phosphor layer when the squeegee attachment angle θ1 is 100 ° to 120 ° is smaller than that when the squeegee mounting angle θ1 is 90 ° or less or 120 ° or more. It can be seen that is formed thick.
When the squeegee mounting angle θ1 is 110 °, it can be seen that the thickness of the phosphor layer is further increased without variation.
[0032]
In this manner, according to the present embodiment, the force F1 (the force that determines the actual amount of paste discharged) applied to the squeegee acts toward the inside of the squeegee, and the force acts without escaping. The discharge amount of the paste is larger than in the conventional example, and the thickness of the phosphor layer in one printing (one squeegee run) can be formed larger than in the conventional example.
Accordingly, the number of times of printing for forming the phosphor layer having a predetermined thickness can be reduced, and the phosphor filling step can be simplified.
