【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置の改良に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
図6は自動車のインストルメントパネル部に取り付ける従来一般のエンジン・スイッチの斜視図、図7はこのエンジン・スイッチに照明装置を装着してインストルメントパネル部に取り付けた状態の斜視図、図8はエンジン・スイッチに照明装置を装着する前の分解斜視図である。

前記エンジン・スイッチ1は周知のようにキー(図示しない)の差込口2にキーを抜き差しできる位置Lockと、差込口2に差し込んだキーをエンジンを止めたままラジオ・オーディオなどが聞ける位置Accと、エンジン回転中の位置ONと、エンジンを始動する位置STARTとに回すことができるようになっている。なお、エンジンを始動させるときには、キーをONの位置まで回し、さらにSTARTの位置に回してエンジンが始動したらキーを放すと、キーは自動的にONの位置に戻る。インストルメントパネル部は、計器類や各種スイッチ等を取り付けるメタルインスト(図示しない)と、その上に被せる合成樹脂一体成形品のトリムインスト3aに分けられる。

前記エンジン・スイッチ1は、インストルメントパネル部3のうち前記メタルインストに取り付けると共に、前記トリムインスト3aの開口に装着した孔飾り部材3bの孔3cにエンジン・スイッチ1の前端部を嵌合させて、前記トリムインスト3aを取り付けている。
前記エンジン・スイッチ1に照明装置を取り付けるには、図8に示すように、エンジン・スイッチ1の前面1aを露出させて、透明筒部材(例えばアクリル等の透明合成樹脂製)4を被せる。この透明筒部材4は、その一部から入射された光が、筒部4aのリング状先端面4bから出る(発光する)ようになっており、筒部4aの一箇所に、後述する発光体から光が筒部4a内に入るように受光片4cが形成されている。さらに、この透明筒部材4の周りに不透明材料で形成されたランプハウジング5を被せる。このランプハウジング5を被せると、その1箇所に設けた豆球や発光ダイオード等の発光体6が前記透明筒部材4の1箇所に形成した受光片4cに対向して、発光体6の光が前記受光片4cに入射し、前記透明筒部材4のリング状先端面4bが発光するように構成されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
前記のような従来のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置においては、エンジン・スイッチ1に被せる透明筒部材4と、この透明筒部材4に被せる筒状のランプハウジング5といったように、部品点数が多くなり、かつ、それぞれの部品は筒軸に沿う方向の厚みが厚くなり、その取り付け空間も大きく必要となるといった問題があった。

また、エンジン・スイッチ1の前面の外周とインストルメントパネル部3のトリムインスト3a(図7参照)に穿設した円形開口に装着した孔飾り部材3bとの間のクリアランスが小さいため、前記透明筒部材4の筒部4aの肉厚を薄くしなければならず、そうすると、光の通過量も少なくなり、リング状の発光が暗くなる。また、前記ランプハウジング5の発光体6を透明筒部材4の筒部4aの一個所に形成した受光片4cに対向して、光を前記筒部4aに入れ、この光りを90度屈折させてリング状先端面4bを発光させると、その発光が暗くなる、といった問題がある。
本発明はこのような問題をなくした自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置を提供することを目的としたものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記目的を達成するために、請求項1に係る発明は、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面外周部に介在させる不透明リング部材11と、この不透明リング部材11の前面11aに形成したリング状凹溝11bに嵌合させた透明リング部材12と、この透明リング部材12の一部分に光を受光させるように設けた発光体13とより構成されたことを特徴とする自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としたものである。

また、請求項2に係る発明は、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面外周部に介在させる不透明リング部材11と、この不透明リング部材11の前面11aに形成したリング状凹溝11bに嵌合させたリング状EL素子14とより構成されたことを特徴とする自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としたものである。

このような構成にしたことにより、自動車のインストルメントパネル部のうちトリムインスト15の円形開口15aに取り付けられた本発明の照明装置の不透明リング部材11を、予め取り付けられたエンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように簡単に嵌合装着することができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置の実施の形態を図面を参照して詳細に説明する。図1(a)は本発明の照明装置がエンジン・スイッチに取り付けられる前の状態の斜視図、(b)図は同横断面、(c)図は(b)図のX部の拡大図である。図2は自動車のインストルメントパネル部のうちメタルインストに取り付けられたエンジン・スイッチの前端部に本発明の照明装置を取り付けた状態の詳細図である。

本発明は、図1および図2に示すように、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように、エンジン・スイッチ10の前面外周部に介在させる例えば不透明な合成樹脂製の不透明リング部材11と、この不透明リング部材11の前面11aに形成したリング状凹溝11bに嵌合させた例えばポリカーボネート樹脂製の透明リング部材12と、この透明リング部材12の一部分に光を受光させるように設けた例えば青色発光の発光ダイオード等の発光体13とより構成された自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としたものである。なお、前記発光体13として、赤、青、緑の3原色の発光ダイオードが一体になったものを使用し、それぞれの発光の強さを変えることにより、所望の発光色を得ることができる。

また、前記発光体13からの光は、直接に透明リング部材12の一部分から入射させるようにしているので、透明リング部材12の表面12aの発光が強くなる。さらに、図1(c)に示すように、前記透明リング部材12に、透明リング部材12内の光が、表面12aに屈折して現れるように細い多数の凹凸12bを形成している。この凹凸12bは、この実施の形態においては透明リング部材12の背面に形成しているが、表面に形成してもよい。

以上のように構成されたエンジン・スイッチの照明装置を、エンジン・スイッチに装着するには、図2および図5に示すように、インストルメントパネル部のうち合成樹脂一体成形品のトリムインスト15に穿設した円形開口15aに、前記のように構成された照明装置の不透明リング部材11の凹リング部11dを、図1(b)、図2に示すように嵌合して、照明装置を予め前記トリムインスト15に取り付けて置く。そして、予めインストルメントパネル部のうちメタルインスト(図示しない)に取り付けられたエンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように、前記照明装置の不透明リング部材11のリング内11cをエンジン・スイッチ10の前端部を嵌合して、前記トリムインスト15を、図2および図4に示すように取り付ける。そして、前記発光体13のリード線(ハーネス)13aを、例えばドアーを開けると通電する電源ラインに接続する。そのようにしておくと、ドアー開けると、エンジン・スイッチ10の周りがリング状に照明されて、キーをエンジン・スイッチ10の差込口10bに差込やすくなる。

このリング状EL素子14は、リング状凹溝11bの底面にリング状の不透明電極14aを配設し、この上に周知のリング状のEL素材14bを配設し、このEL素材14bの上にリング状の透明電極14cを配設し、このリング状の透明電極14cの上に透明電極の保護用のリング状の透明合成樹脂等の透明板14dが配設され、前記リング状の不透明電極14aとリング状の透明電極14cにはそれぞれリード端子14eが接続され、このリード端子14e間に所定の電圧が印加されて、リング状EL素子14が発光するようになっている。

この請求項2に係るようなエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としても、請求項1に係る発明と同様にインストルメントパネル部のうち合成樹脂一体成形品のトリムインスト15に穿設した円形開口15aに、前記のように構成された照明装置の不透明リング部材11の凹リング部11dを嵌合して、照明装置を予め前記トリムインスト15に取り付けて置く。そして、予め取り付けられたエンジン・スイッチ10の前面10aが露出するように、前記照明装置の不透明リング部材11のリング内11cをエンジン・スイッチ10の前端部を嵌合して、前記トリムインスト15を、図2および図4に示すように取り付けることができる。

【発明の効果】
本発明の請求項1に係る発明は、エンジン・スイッチの前面が露出するように、エンジン・スイッチの前面外周部に介在させる不透明リング部材と、この不透明リング部材の前面に形成したリング状凹溝に嵌合させた透明リング部材と、この透明リング部材の一部分に光を受光させるように設けた発光体とより構成した自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としたことにより、部品点数が少なく、かつ、その照明装置の厚みが薄くなり、その取り付けが簡単で、取り付け空間も小さくてよい等の利点がある。

また、請求項2に係る発明は、エンジン・スイッチの前面が露出するように、エンジン・スイッチの前面外周部に介在させる不透明リング部材と、この不透明リング部材の前面に形成したリング状凹溝に嵌合させたリング状EL素子とより構成された自動車のエンジン・スイッチの照明装置としたことにより、請求項1に係る発明と同様の効果を得ることができる。
