Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents storage device that links Web contents to a TV broadcasting program in a way matching the characteristics of TV media.
SOLUTION: A DB 51 stores contents broadcast at a time denoted by a time ID and its identification information (still picture, music ID or the like) in a form of records in which a program broadcast time is divided in the unit of a prescribed time. A DB 52 stores the identifier (music ID) of contents such as music ID and the URI (Universal Resource Identifier) of contents (music data) corresponding to the music ID. A DB 53 stores an ID of a viewer viewing the program and a mail address. When the viewer designates the current time during broadcast of the program, the contents storage device searches the music ID on the basis of the time ID corresponding to the current time from the DB 51 and searches the URI of the music data corresponding to the music ID from the DB 52. The contents storage device informs the viewer designating the time about the URI on the basis of the DB 53 by means of mail. The viewer can thus obtain the URI of the contents in the program nearly in real time.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

2. Description of the Related Art In digital television broadcasting,
Data broadcasting has been started in which a data signal other than a television signal is superimposed on a digital television signal. In a television receiver compatible with data broadcasting, the content transmitted by the data signal is displayed according to a signal from a remote control commander, for example, based on a user operation. Thus, in television broadcasting, the framework that can show an interactive reaction based on the user's operation is

On the other hand, with the spread of the Internet, there is a huge amount of content centering on Web sites on the Internet. These contents can be acquired by an information device such as a personal computer connected to the Internet. Further, in recent years, it has become possible to acquire contents on the Internet even with portable communication terminals such as mobile phones.

Now, let us consider a case where the contents by data broadcasting and the contents on the Internet are simply linked. In this case, for example, a television receiver compatible with data broadcasting can browse contents on the Internet such as a website. Hereinafter, the contents on the Internet are limited to the contents of the website, which will be referred to as the web contents.

The majority of Web contents are configured for the purpose of searching and browsing by personal computers. Further, it is assumed that the Web content is further processed after being searched and browsed by a personal computer. On the other hand, data broadcasting contents are basically passive contents because of the characteristic of television media that is broadcast to an unspecified large number. The contents of the data broadcast are also different from the Web contents in the way of using the interactive function. Therefore, simply linking the Web contents with the contents of the data broadcast does not always meet the needs of the users.

The concept of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. For example, as shown in FIG. 1A, it is assumed that the scene 2 for which the user needs information is displayed on the television receiver 1 at a certain time. When the user gives an instruction to the television receiver 1 to clip this scene, it is transmitted to the center which provides the service according to the present invention together with the information indicating the time when the instruction is given. The center searches the database for content on the Internet related to the content instructed to be clipped, based on the time information, and uses a URI (Universal) which is information indicating the location of the Internet.
Get information such as Resource Identifier). This information is sent to the user who sent the instruction by using, for example, an electronic mail on the Internet. By receiving this e-mail with another information device different from the television receiver 1, such as a personal computer, the user browses the required information through the screen of the personal computer as shown in FIG. 1B. can do.

In the program database 51, as shown in FIG. 5A, one record is formed by dividing the broadcast time of a program by a predetermined time unit. The length of the time unit for dividing the broadcast time of the program is set to be long enough to maintain real-time property when the time divided for each time unit is reconfigured. More specifically, for example, 1 second is set as a time unit, and the broadcast time of a program is divided by a unit of 1 second to form one record for each. The time unit is not limited to 1 second, and may be several seconds to several tens of seconds as long as the above-mentioned real time property can be maintained, and may be several tens of seconds depending on the content of the program.
