本発明はラチェット型リングスパナに関し、特に修理工にとって極めて有用な
改良リングスパナに関する。

背景技術
文明社会では手工具の果たす役割は大きい。ボルトとナットが発明されて以来
、手工具の中でもスパナが最も重要視されており、従来より多種多様のスパナが
利用されてきた。例えば、コンビネーションレンチ、オープンレンチ、リングス
パナ、ソケットラチェットレンチなどである。第6図はソケットラチェットレン
チを示したものである。このレンチは、ハンドル40と、ヘッド部42に設けら
れたスイッチボタン41とを備え、作動中このスイッチボタン41によりヘッド
部42に取り付けられたラチェットの可逆方向を切り換えるようになっている。
このソケットラチェットレンチの欠点は、可逆方向の切り替えを行うのに、作業
者がソケットラチェットレンチを一方の手で保持しながらスイッチボタン4
1の切り替えをしなければならない点にある。別の欠点は、ヘッド部には、切り
換え動作のために必要となる複雑な構成要素が収容されているために、ヘッド部
が大型化し、狭い場所での使用ができないことである。
プロの修理工は、狭い場所でナットの着脱を行うのにコンビネーションレンチ
(第7図参照)、オープンレンチあるいはリングスパナを使用する。これらの工
具に共通する欠点は面倒な使用手順にある。即ち、工具をある程度の角度回転し
た後、工具をナットから抜き、再びナットに工具をはめ込み、更にある角度だけ
回転しなければならず、これをナットの締結又は弛緩が完了するまで継続して行
わなければならない。こういった作業は、狭い場所ではとりわけ不利不便が大き
い。
可逆リングスパナは上記欠点を解消するために提案されたものである。可逆リ
ングスパナは、スパナのヘッド部に取り付けられたラチェットホイールと、スパ
ナのつなぎ部に形成されスプリングと爪を収容するためのキャビティとを有して
いる。爪はスプリングによって付勢されており、ラチェットホイールと係合、離
脱して必要なラッチ動作を行う。しかしながら、爪は、単にラチェットホイール
の一つの歯のみと噛合するので、最大トルクは比較的小さく、また比較的大きい
トルクがかかると爪が損傷する可能性のあることが判明している。加えて、スパ
ナのつなぎ部に1cmの厚さのキャビティを形成することは極めて困難である。
更に、ラチェットホイールと爪の係合が確実に行われるようにキャビティは斜め
に延びるよう形成されていなければならない。許容誤差が極めて小さいために、
キャビティを形成する困難性は更に増大することになる。スパナのヘッドの厚さ
を増大することによりこの問題を解決することはできるが、ソケットラチェット
レンチのヘッドのようにサイズの大きいヘッドでは、狭い場所で効果的にスパナ
を使うことはできない。
このため、上記未解決の問題を軽減あるいは解消するためのラチェッ
ト型リングスパナの改良が長年に亘って嘱望されていた。
発明の開示
本発明の目的は、操作が容易で組立が簡便なプロの修理工用ラチェット型リン
グスパナを提供することにある。
本発明の他の目的は、ゴミのような異物がスパナのヘッドに侵入しても動作の
信頼性を損なわないラチェット型リングスパナを提供することにある。
本発明によるラチェット型リングスパナは、ハンドルとヘッド部とを有し、ヘ
ッド部は内部に受入れ空間を画成する円周壁部を備え、また円周壁部はハンドル
に接続する繋ぎ部を備え、繋ぎ部内にはキャビティが画成されている。ラチェッ
トホイールは受入れ空間に配置され、ラチェットホイールの外周面には複数の歯
が設けられると共に、多角形の内周面が形成されて締結又は弛緩されるべきナッ
トの面と係合する。
爪がキャビティ内に配置され、その一面側にはラチェットホイールの歯と噛合
するための複数の歯が設けられ、他面はキャビティの壁面と当接する。停止部材
がキャビティ内に設けられ、停止部材の第1端部はキャビティを画成する壁面に
当接する。スプリングが停止部材と爪との間に介装され、爪を停止部材から離間
する方向に付勢する。実施の形態によると、停止部材の第1端部は、キャビティ
を画成する壁面に当接する2個の突起が設けられる。
本発明の第1の観点によると、爪は突出部を備え、停止部材からはポストが延
びている。ここでスプリングの第1端部は爪の突出部に取付けられ、スプリング
の第2端部は停止部材のポストに取付けられる。
本発明の他の観点によると、停止部材は更に一対のウイングを備え、一対のウ
イングは、停止部材の長手方向の1対の縁部の中央から、それ
ぞれ長手方向に対して直角に外方に延びている。異物がキャビティ内に侵入した
場合に、ウイングは、爪がラチェットホイールから離脱するようにするための、
爪のガイドレールとして機能し、そのことにより、異物によって作業が損われる
ことなく次回の作業のために爪を初期位置に戻すことができる。
本発明の他の観点によると、キャビティを画成する壁面の中央には凹部が形成
され、停止部材にはキャビティの凹部内に受入れられるアンカーが設けられてい
る。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
本発明のラチェット型リングスパナについて、図1〜図5に基づいて説明する
。最初に図1〜図3において、本発明のラチェット型リングスパナ1は、ハンド
ル11とヘッド部10を有する。ヘッド部10は、ラチェットホイール20を収
納するための受入れ空間12を画成する円周壁部10aを有する。円周壁部10
aはハンドル11と接続される繋ぎ領域部10bを有する。繋ぎ領域部10bに
はキャビティ13が画成され、
キャビティ13を画成している壁面の中央部において、凹部131が形成されて
いる(図3参照)。
図2、図3において、ラチェットホイール20はその外周面に複数の歯21を
備えると共に、ナット等の側面と係合する多角形の内周面が形成されている。円
弧状の歯付き部材14いわゆる爪が、キャビティ13内に配置され、爪はその一
端に突出部141が設けられ、また一方の面側には、ラチェットホイール20の
歯21と噛合するための複数の歯142が設けられている。キャビティ13内に
は更に弾性板15からなる停止部材が設けられる。弾性板15の一端側に2個の
突起151、152が設けられ、他端側には、凹部131に受容される略U字状
のアンカー155が設けられる。弾性板15は更に、その側面中央部から外方に
延びるポスト156と、一対のウイング153、154が設けられる。これらウ
イングは、弾性板の2つの長手方向縁部の中央部から、弾性板の長手方向に対し
て直角に外方に延びている。
組立に際しては、停止部材15をキャビティ13の一方の側部に挿入する。こ
こで、停止部材15の一端側の突起151,152は、キャビティ13を画成し
ている壁に強固に当接し、アンカー155は、凹部131内に収容される。次に
円弧状の歯付部材14が、キャビティ13の他方の側部に挿入される。ここで、
歯付部材の他面側は、キャビティ1
3を画成する壁に当接し、突出部141は停止部材15のポスト156に対向す
る。スプリング16が停止部材15と円弧状歯付部材15の間に介装される。こ
こで図3に示されるように、スプリングの一端は突出部141に、他端部はポス
ト156に取付けられる。次に、ラチェットホイール20が、ヘッド部10の受
入れ空間12内に挿入される。ここでラチェットホイールの歯21は、歯付部材
14の一面側に設けられた歯142と噛合する。
動作について説明すると、弛緩又は締結すべき図示せぬナットが公知の態様で
ラチェットホイール20と係合し、使用者は、ハンドル11を把持して、ヘッド
部10とナットとを第1方向、例えば時計回り方向に回転させるようにリングス
パナを動かす。ヘッド部10が所定角度回転すると、(ラチェットホイール20
は歯付き部材14と噛合しているので)歯付部材14は図4に示される位置に移
動し、スプリング16は圧縮される。リングスパナを初期位置に戻す必要がある
場合には、使用者はリングスパナ全体を上方に引上げてナットとの係合を解き次
にリングスパナを下降させてナットと再係合させる必要はない。その代りに、リ
ングナットは逆回転可能な構成であるので、使用者は、リングナットを反対方向
に、例えば反時計回り方向に直接回動させる。これは、歯付部材の歯142とラ
チェットホイール20の歯21の形状によって、この反対方向の回転が可能であ
る状態では、スプリング16の付勢力によって、歯付部材14が図3に示される
初期位置に戻されるためである。
作業中にはしばしば異物がヘッド部のキャビティ13に侵入するが、その場合
に、歯付部材14に異物が付着しているので、上述した反対方向の回転が必要な
ときでも、歯付部材はただちに初期位置に戻ることができなくなる場合がある。
これは、歯付部材14がラチェットホイール20から離脱できないためである。
このような状況では、図4で見たと
き、歯付き部材14はラチェットホイール20に載って更に右方向に移動し、、
停止部材15のウイング153、154と当接する。そのことにより、停止部材
15に力が作用する。この力は直角方向の力と長手方向の力となり、歯付部材1
4をウイング153、154の側縁部1531、1541に沿って所定距離だけ
摺働移動させる(図5の矢印参照)。よって、図5に示されるように、歯付部材
はラチェットホイール20との係合から解除される。換言すれば、ウイング15
3、154は歯付部材14を下方に移動案内するためのガイドレールとして作用
し、よって歯付部材はラチェットホイール20から離間する。そのためスプリン
グ20による付勢力により、歯付部材を図3に示される初期位置まで移動させる
ことができる。しかして異物が侵入しても、ラチェット型リングスパナは通常ど
おり機能できる。異物は周期的に又は作業を終えた直後に取除けばよい。
図8は本発明による他の実施の形態を示す。図2に示される実施の形態では、
ラチェットホイール20の外周面に複数の歯21が設けられ、内周面側でナット
等の側面と係合する。一方図8に示される実施の形態では、ラチェットホイール
20の外周面は、凹面形状をなして一様に複数の歯21が設けられている。歯は
互いに離間し、またそれぞれの歯は凹面湾曲形状をなす。円弧状の歯付部材14
即ち爪が、キャビティ13内に配置され、爪の一端には突出部141が設けられ
、爪の一面側にはラチェットホイール20の歯21と噛合する複数の歯142が
設けられている。それぞれの歯142はラチェットホイールの凹面湾曲形状の歯
21と係合するために凸面湾曲形状をなす。そのため、図8に示される実施の形
態によるラチェットレンチのラチェットホイールと爪は、互いに噛合する多数の
湾曲形状の歯を有し、その結果、歯同士の噛合力を強めている。キャビティ13
内には弾性板の停止部材15が配置され、停
止部材はその一端側に2個の突起151、152が設けられ、他端側には凹部1
