上記課題を達成するために、親水性グラフトポリマーの特性に着眼し研究を進めた結果、本発明者らは、親水性ポリマーと金属アルコキシドを加水分解、縮重合することにより形成された架橋構造とを備えた表面層により上記目的を達成し得ること、さらには、このような架橋構造を有する表面層がシランカップリング基を末端に有する親水性ポリマーと架橋剤とを組合せることにより容易に得られることを見出し、本発明を完成した。
即ち、本発明の表面親水性部材は、基材表面に、親水性グラフト鎖を有し、且つ、Si、Ti、Zr、Alから選択される金属アルコキシドの加水分解、縮重合により形成された架橋構造を有する親水性層を備えることを特徴とする。
また、このような架橋構造を有する親水性層は、シランカップリング基を末端に有する親水性ポリマーと架橋剤とを組合せることにより得られ、また、(A)下記一般式(I)で表される高分子化合物を含有する親水性塗布液組成物を調製し、塗布することにより形成されることが好ましい態様であり、さらに好ましくは、これに加えて(B)下記一般式(II)で表される加水分解性化合物を含有する親水性塗布液組成物を調整し、塗布することにより形成された、架橋構造を有する親水性層を備える態様が挙げられる。
