The recording head is directly driven via the timing belt 21 coupled to the clamping part 5.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a new recording head for a serial printer having excellent running characteristics and responsiveness.

That is, according to the present invention, as a recording head for a serial printer for achieving the above object, first and second guide members provided in a printer main body and extending in a main scanning direction are provided. A recording head having two guided portions that slide while being regulated by the guide member is provided with a fastening portion that is directly coupled to a timing belt on which a driving force of a driving motor acts.

In the drawing, a recording head assembly denoted by reference numeral 1 is provided with an ink jet recording type recording head 3 on its lower surface via a mounting portion.

As described above, according to the present invention, the guided portion provided on the recording head is brought into direct sliding contact with the guide member of the printer main body without the intervention of the carriage, and via the fastened timing belt. The head is mounted so that it can be directly driven by the drive motor, which not only simplifies the configuration of the head traveling system, but also eliminates play between components and increases the traveling performance. The width can be improved, and the responsiveness can be significantly improved.

[Claims] A drive motor is provided on a recording head having two guided portions slid while being regulated by first and second guide members provided in a printer main body and extending in a main scanning direction. A recording head for a serial printer, comprising a fastening portion that is directly coupled to a timing belt on which the driving force acts.
