Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent water having got into the inside of an external sheath through a crack piercing the external sheath of a signal cable from penetrating into an aggregate of wire cores. SOLUTION: A cut edge of the signal cable 6 having the aggregate 2 of wire cores, an internal sheath 3 at the outside of the aggregate, a spirally wound layer of a metal tape 4 at the outside of the aggregate and the external sheath 5 at the outside of the aggregate are water-sealed by a waterproof material 7. Also, a terminal cap 8 is closely put on a terminal section including the cut edge of the signal cable 6.

2. Description of the Related Art When a cut end face of a cable end portion is being stored in a warehouse or the like or being laid by a drum while being wound with a drum, and the cut end surface is exposed, water penetrates into the cable through the exposed cut end surface. Therefore, it is necessary to waterproof the terminal part. FIG. 2 shows a conventional waterproof structure for a cable terminal.
As shown in FIG. 5, a cylindrical terminal cap 8 having a bottom made of vinyl, rubber, or the like is placed on the outer periphery of the terminal portion of the cable 6 having the cut end surface so that the terminal cap 8 is in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the cable 6. In addition, a restraining winding 9 such as a vinyl tape is applied over the base end side of the terminal cap 8 and the outer peripheral surface of the cable 6 so that the terminal cap 8 does not easily come off from the terminal portion of the cable 6 and come off. According to the cable terminal portion treatment structure of such a structure, the terminal portion of the cable 6 is covered with the bottomed cylindrical terminal cap 8 in a watertight manner.
It is possible to reliably prevent water from entering the inside of the cable 6 through the cut end surface of the cable 6.

However, the cable 6 is composed of a wire core assembly 2 composed of a large number of insulated wire cores 1.
A synthetic resin inner sheath 3 provided outside the wire core assembly 2, a metal tape spiral wound layer 4 provided outside the inner sheath 3, and a metal tape spiral wound layer 4 provided outside the metal tape spiral wound layer 4. A signal cable having a synthetic resin outer sheath 5 provided therein, wherein the outer sheath 5 of the signal cable 6 has a penetrating scratch 10 that penetrates its thickness for some reason, for example, at the time of wire drawing work. When received, since the inner sheath 3 is present inside the outer sheath 5, there is no possibility that water will directly enter the wire core assembly 2 from the location of the penetrating wound 10, When water enters the inside of the cable 5, the water flows along the longitudinal direction of the cable 6 as shown by an arrow through the gap in the spirally wound metal tape layer 4. Since a gap 11 exists between the terminal cap 8 and the cut end surface of the cable 6, the water is eventually passed through the gap 11 and the wire core assembly 2.
As a result, the wire core assembly 2 is in a state of moisture absorption or water wetting, causing a problem that its electrical characteristics are significantly impaired.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An embodiment of the processing structure of a signal cable terminal according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the illustrated example. FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention, in which a large number of insulated wires 1 for signal transmission are assembled to form a wire core assembly 2, and polyethylene is provided outside the wire core assembly 2. An inner sheath 3 made of a synthetic resin is provided.
A metal tape spiral wound layer 4 of stainless steel or the like is provided on the outer side of the inner sheath 3, and a synthetic resin outer sheath 5 made of polyvinyl chloride or the like is provided on the outer side thereof. A cable 6 is configured.
Then, the cut end surface of the signal cable 6 is water-tightly sealed by the water-blocking material 7 so as to cover the entire end surface, and the terminal portion of the signal cable 6 including the cut end surface is provided with elastic rubber or plastic. A cylindrical terminal cap 8 having a bottom is formed so as to tightly adhere to the outer peripheral surface of the signal cable 6, and extends over the base end side of the terminal cap 8 and the outer peripheral surface of the signal cable 6. The processing structure of the signal cable terminal portion according to the present invention is configured by applying a restraining winding 9 such as a tape.

In the above configuration, when the cable is laid during the wire drawing work, if a penetrating scratch 10 is generated in the outer sheath 5 of the signal cable 6 due to collision of an obstacle or the like, the penetrating scratch 10 However, in the configuration of the present invention, since the entire cut end surface of the signal cable 6 is closed by the water blocking material 7 in a watertight manner, Even if the water that has entered inside flows through the gap portion of the spirally wound metal tape layer 4 toward the cut end surface of the cable 6 as shown by the arrow in FIG. 2, the inflow water is blocked by the water blocking material 7. Further progress is prevented, so that the influent water is reliably prevented from reaching the core assembly 2 as in the prior art.

When the present invention is carried out, the water barrier 7
May be formed by fixing a water-blocking material such as rubber, plastic or metal to the cut end surface of the cable 6, or by applying a suitable water-blocking sealant so as to cover the cut end surface. it can. In addition, in order to more reliably seal the gap between the inner peripheral surface of the terminal cap 8 and the outer peripheral surface of the cable 6 in a watertight manner, the inner peripheral surface of the terminal cap 8 is made watertight with the outer peripheral surface of the cable 6 with an adhesive. It may be fixed. Furthermore, in order to prevent the terminal cap 8 from being torn by the cut edge of the spirally wound metal tape layer 4 at the cut end surface when the terminal cap 8 is fitted on the terminal portion of the cable 6, Although not shown, a tape may be wound around the outer edge of the cable 6.

As is clear from the above, according to the present invention, water penetrates into the inside of the outer sheath through the penetrating wound generated in the outer sheath, and the permeated water passes through the gap portion of the spirally wound metal tape layer. Even if it flows toward the cut end face of the signal cable, since the cut end face is watertightly sealed by the water-blocking material, the infiltrated water may go around the cut end face and reach the inner core assembly. Therefore, it is possible to reliably eliminate the risk that water penetrates into the core assembly and impairs its electrical characteristics.
