In the above-described conventional escalator moving handrail, an external force is applied from a device for driving the moving handrail or a guide track to compress the moving handrail.
Since the components are subjected to loads such as bending and friction, the components themselves may crack or friction with use, or peel off between the canvas 1 and between different components. In particular, since all the canvases 1 of the canvas layer 2 are arranged in a substantially C-shape, and the tensile body layer 4 is arranged substantially at the center of the substantially C-shaped cross section of the back portion 5, When the moving handrail is bent in the longitudinal direction, stress concentrates from the side surface portion 6 to the ear portion 7, so that the width dimension A of the opening 8 formed between the ear portions 7 changes or cracks in the ear portion 7 are generated. There is a problem that it often occurs. In addition, where the moving handrail enters and exits at the upper and lower entrances of the escalator, the moving handrail is bent in the longitudinal direction, so that the widening of the opening 8 creates a large gap between the handrail and the handrail of the passenger. May be pinched.

According to the first aspect of the present invention, when the moving handrail is bent in the longitudinal direction, the first canvas provided on the back and side portions is bent, so that the side portions are bent. Although the stress that deforms outward acts, the above-mentioned stress does not act even if the second canvas arranged only on the back is bent, so that the stress generated in the moving handrail can be dispersed and between the ears. The amount of change in the width dimension of the opening to be formed can be suppressed, whereby the safety and durability of the moving handrail can be improved.

In the invention according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, when the moving handrail is bent in the longitudinal direction, a force for pushing the ear portion, that is, a stress for deforming the side portion to the outside acts. The third canvas arranged near the surface of the decorative layer on the side portion increases the rigidity of the side portion, and the rubber member interposed between the back portion and the side portion of the canvas improves the shape retention, so that the ear portion is formed. The amount of change in the width dimension of the opening formed therebetween can be suppressed, whereby the safety and durability of the moving handrail can be improved.

In a passenger conveyor or the like in which the back of a moving handrail is sandwiched and driven by rollers, strain stress is applied to the back of the handrail to deform the decorative layer. Since the applied strain stress is indirectly received and widely dispersed in the inner fabric and the rubber member disposed therebetween, local stress concentration can be suppressed, and thereby the peeling resistance and abrasion resistance of the decorative layer are reduced. Therefore, the safety and durability of the moving handrail can be further improved.

Next, a comparison between the present embodiment and a comparative example (conventional example) will be described with reference to FIG. Here, in Comparative Example 1 shown in FIG. 2A, the second canvas 1b and other third and fourth canvases (not shown) are arranged in a range larger than the inner width B of the moving handrail. For this reason, when the moving handrail is bent in the longitudinal direction, the canvas of the side portion 6 follows due to the strain stress of the canvas of the back portion 5, the ear portion 7 warps, and the width A of the opening 8 changes in a direction in which the width A increases. Since there is a gap between the balustrade guide and a gap between the balustrade and the moving handrail, there is a possibility that a finger or the like may be caught in the gap by the bent portion of the entrance / exit. Further, in Comparative Example 2 shown in FIG. 2A, the second canvas 1b is disposed in a range smaller than the width dimension A of the opening 8 of the moving handrail, and therefore, the second canvas 1b is provided. May lose the effect of maintaining the shape in the width direction of the moving handrail, and the width dimension A of the opening 8 may change in a narrowing direction, and the opening 8 may sandwich the balustrade guide or the balustrade. In addition, the shape of the cords and meshes of the rollers and pulleys for driving the moving handrails and the tensile body layer 4 emerges on the decorative layer 3, and furthermore, only the protruding portions become contaminated and the aesthetics of the moving handrails themselves. There is also a defect that impairs. On the other hand, with respect to these comparative examples 1 and 2, in the present embodiment shown by the solid line in FIG. 3 (c), the width dimension A of the opening 8 hardly changes.
That is, an effect of suppressing a dimensional change of the opening 8 can be obtained.

By interposing various rubbers or plastics having excellent flexibility and tensile force between the canvases 1a, 1b and 1c, the first canvas 1a and the third canvas 1 including the canvas thickness are included.
If the thickness between c is 40 to 80% of the total thickness of the side portion 6 at the side portion 6 and 50 to 90% at the back portion 5, it is suitable for practical use.
In this case, it is practically preferable to set the thickness to about 40 to 50% of the total thickness of the side surface portion 6. The above-mentioned various rubbers and plastics need to be strongly bonded to the canvas by vulcanizing the rubber member or using various adhesives.

In a passenger conveyor or the like in which the back 5 of the moving handrail is sandwiched and driven by a pressing roller (not shown), a strain stress is applied to the back 5 to deform the decorative layer 3. Since the provided canvas indirectly receives the strain stress received by the decorative layer 3 and widely disperses it into the inner canvas 1c and the rubber disposed therebetween, local stress concentration can be suppressed. Thereby, the running resistance when driven by the pinching roller can be reduced, and the peeling resistance and wear resistance of the decorative layer 3 can be improved. Further, when the passenger conveyor is stopped, such as at night, the portion supported by the squeezing rollers is less likely to be deformed. Thus, the durability including the material cost and the aesthetic appearance of the moving handrail can be further improved.
