Modern cylindrical alkaline storage batteries such as nickel-cadmium or nickel-
Alkaline batteries that operate on the basis of metal hydride electrochemical
The density is very high, which causes the active material to be extremely confined,
The porosity is greatly reduced. In addition, the cell is filled and consists of an electrode and a separator
The electrolyte, which fills the pores in the assembly and allows the electrodes to operate, increases the amount of active material.
As the size increases, it becomes necessary to occupy a larger volume in the cell. The problem is the electrode

In some cases, excess electrolyte must first be removed from the top before the electrolyte is turned on.
The cell protection cover cannot be closed without baffling. Injected into the cell
The reduced amount of electrolyte is detrimental to the electrochemical performance of the cell. Accordingly
To find a way to inject all of the electrolyte required to operate the cell properly.
It is required to start.

) For 2 hours. After 2 hours, the internal pressure of the cell 1 is 7 bar (1 bar = 10 bar).Five
Pa).
Cell 1 is then charged at the C rate (1 hour to fully charge the cell and
(Complete discharge). The life of this cell is 500 cycles.
Was.
Example 2 (for comparison)
Cell 2 was the same as cell 1. The cell 2 was filled by a centrifugal method. Centrifugation
Free liquid was not observed on the upper surface of the roll immediately after the treatment stage. It
But in a few minutes after filling, observe that free liquid rises on the roll
Was done. This free liquid was removed with a syringe. Its volume is 0.1cmThree
Met. After removing the free liquid, the cell 2 was sealed.
After performing the same specific electrical forming as in Example 1, the cell 2
(The cell was fully charged in 1 hour) for 2 hours. After charging for 2 hours, the internal pressure of cell 2 is
7 bar.
Cell 2 is then charged at C rate (full charge and discharge of cell in 1 hour).
Charged continuously. The life was 500 cycles.
Example 3 (for comparison)
Cell 3 was the same as cell 1. As shown in Fig. 2 with downward spikes
Can be the same PVC plastic washer as
And inserted the roll afterwards. Then, the cell 3 was filled by a centrifugal method.
No liquid in a free state was observed on the upper surface of the roll immediately after the centrifugal treatment. It
However, a few minutes after filling, the free liquid can be seen to rise along the roll.
I was guessed. This free liquid was removed with a syringe. Its volume is 0.1cmThree
Met. After removing the free liquid, the cell 3 was sealed.
After performing the same specific electrical forming as in Example 1, the cell 3
(The cell was fully charged in 1 hour) for 2 hours. Internal pressure of cell 3 after charging for 2 hours
Was 7 bar.
Cell 3 is then charged at C rate (full charge and discharge of the cell in one hour).
Charged continuously. The life was 500 cycles.
Example 4 (according to the present invention)
Cell 4 was the same as cell 1. Acrylic acid on polypropylene non-woven felt
Place a washer as shown in Fig. 3 that has been rendered hydrophilic by rafting on the bottom of the can.
The roll was inserted afterwards. Such materials are subject to mechanical incompressibility testing
Therefore, it is practically incompressible.
Resistant to at least the same degree of hydrophilicity as the separator. Then the cell
4 was packed by centrifugation. Free liquid is observed on the upper surface of the roll immediately after filling
Was not done. After waiting for one hour, no free liquid was seen on the upper surface. I
Thus, cell 4 was sealed containing a volume V of electrolyte.
After performing the same specific electrical forming as in Example 1, the cell 4
(The cell was fully charged in 1 hour) for 2 hours. After charging for 2 hours, the internal pressure of cell 4
Was 7 bar.
Cell 4 is then charged at C rate (full charge and discharge of cell in 1 hour).
Charged continuously. The life was 700 cycles.
Example 5 (according to the present invention)
Cell 5 was the same as cell 1. As described in Example 4, the hydrophilic
Woven felt washers and the hard washers with spikes described in Example 3
The spike washer over the felt washer (spike washer
The roll was inserted into the bottom of the can (with the key in contact with the roll).
Holes in plastic washers to compensate for electrolyte consumption during cycling
Opening, electricity existing in non-woven washer
The solution was allowed to reach the separator. Then, the cell 5 was filled by a centrifugal method. filling
Free liquid was not observed on the upper surface of the roll immediately after. Even if you wait one hour,
No free liquid was seen on the top surface. Therefore, this cell 5 has a volume V
And sealed.
After performing the same specific electrical forming as in Example 1, the cell 5
(The cell was fully charged in 1 hour) for 2 hours. After charging for 2 hours, internal pressure of cell 5
Was 7 bar.
Next, the cell 5 is subjected to the C rate (the cell is completely charged and completely discharged in one hour).
The battery was continuously discharged. The life was 700 cycles.
