Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deflector for supplying gobs which is capable of correctly dropping the gobs to the center of a blank mold by perpendicularly correcting the postures of the gobs without using funnels. SOLUTION: A deflector guide 6 is mounted at a front end 4 of a main body 1 of a deflector and a straight gob dropping passage 12 of a sectionally circular shape or approximately elliptic shape is formed between this guide and an inside surface 5 of a recessed shape of the main body 1. A diameter- expanding part 13 of an inverted circular cone shape is preferably formed at the top end of the deflector guide 6 and the radius of curvature of the horizontal section of the deflector guide 6 is preferably formed to the radius of curvature of the main body 1 of the deflector or above. The gobs are corrected to the perpendicular posture while passing the gob dropping passage 12 and are supplied to the center of the blank mold B.

2. Description of the Related Art An automatic glass forming machine receives a gob (molten glass lump) made by an overhead glass feeder into a rough mold through a metal gutter called a scoop, a tree, and a deflector. In a well-known independent section type glass forming machine, since a number of sections are arranged in a line, the tows are arranged obliquely according to the distance between the scoop and each section, and the deflector projects from the lower end of the inclined tow. In order to drop the gob vertically into the center of each section, it must be curved in a vertical plane.

FIG. 3 is a view showing such a conventional deflector for supplying a gob, in which a deflector 20 having a circular horizontal cross section is shown. The gob jumps obliquely from the upper end of the deflector 20 as shown by the arrow, and while being pressed against the inner surface of the deflector 20 by centrifugal force, the posture is corrected vertically, and then the gob falls right below the center of the rough mold B. However, since the deflector 20 is open on one side, there is a tendency that the gob inclines slightly due to the centrifugal force at the moment of leaving the deflector 20. Even if this slope is negligible,
It causes various product defects.

Therefore, conventionally, a gob guide called a funnel 22 has been provided above the rough mold B to correct the gob posture vertically. The funnel 22 includes a short normal funnel and a long funnel as shown in FIG. 3. However, since the normal funnel cannot completely correct the posture of the gob, oil is frequently applied to the inner surface of the rough mold B. You need to go and reduce the friction. On the other hand, the long funnel as shown can correct the inclination of the gob, but after the gob is thrown in, it must be moved laterally from above the rough mold B by the funnel rocking mechanism 23 prior to the parison molding. However, the parison molding timing is delayed by that time, and a defect called "Hakama" tends to occur. Further, since the large long funnel is swung above the rough mold B, there is also a problem that the danger to the operator increases.

The gob supplying deflector of the present invention thus constructed is used by adjusting the position so that the center line of the gob drop passage 12 coincides with the center line of the rough mold B of the glass forming machine as in the prior art. It is something that can be done. At the curved upper portion 3 of the main body 1 of the deflector, the gob falls while changing its direction downward, but at this time, it is inevitable that the gob is inclined due to centrifugal force. However, in the deflector for supplying a gob according to the present invention, the deflector guide 6 is attached to the distal end portion 4 of the main body 1 of the deflector to form a straight gob drop passage 12 having a circular or substantially elliptical cross section. As a result, a complete vertical posture is established, and the object falls to the center of the rough mold B.

As described above, according to the present invention, the gob can be supplied to the center of the rough mold B without using the conventional long funnel, so that the parison molding can be started immediately after the gob-in. Defects due to delay in molding timing can be prevented, and molding speed can be increased. Furthermore, since there is no need to swing the large long funnel above the rough mold B, the danger to the operator is reduced. In addition, since the gob falls to the center of the rough mold B in a vertical posture, it is not necessary to frequently apply oil to the rough mold B as in the related art, so that the burden on the worker is reduced and wrinkles, chilled, hakama, Product defects such as uneven thickness can be eliminated. Further, a funnel swinging mechanism is not required, which contributes to cost reduction of the glass forming machine.
