図２は、本発明が適用された画像形成装置の実施の形態を示している。同図において、シート供給装置としての画像形成装置２１は、原稿画像を読み取る画像読み取り装置(ＩＩＴ)２３及びパーソナルコンピュータ(ＰＣ)等からなる外部機器２５と通信回線２７を介して接続される受信部２９が備えられ、この受信部２９からの画像情報に基づいて画像書込装置３１を制御する画像記録制御部３３が設けられている。この画像記録制御部３３は、画像書込装置３１の制御の他、後述するシート供給部６０の制御や他のシート搬送系の制御をも実行している。また、画像形成装置２１は、画像書込装置３１によって静電潜像が書込まれる像担持体３５と、この像担持体３５の円周方向に沿って配設されて像担持体３５を帯電する帯電器３７と、帯電された像担持体３５上にトナーを用いて現像する現像装置３９が設けられ、転写ロール４３により搬送されたシートに対して像担持体３５上のトナー像を転写している。更に、シートに転写された画像を定着させる定着装置４５と、定着されたシートを排出する排出ロール４７と、この排出ロール４７によって排出されたシートを積載する排出トレイ４９と、転写に用いられずに余ったトナーを回収するクリーナ４１とが備えられている。
