布地柔軟剤組成物の使用
発明の分野
本発明は布地柔軟剤組成物に関する。より詳しくは、本発明は、布地の濯ぎお
よび/または乾燥により布地に外観上の利点を与えるための、該布地柔軟剤組成
物の使用に関する。
発明の背景
布地、例えば衣類、寝具類、テーブル掛けの様な家庭用布地、の使用、洗濯、
濯ぎおよび/または回転乾燥の様な過程は、消費者が布地を通常使用する際に一
般的に行なうことである。しかし、本発明者は、その様な過程により、布地の外
観、すなわち少なくとも部分的に色の正確さおよび布地の輪郭の厳密性、が低下
することを見出だした。
この問題は、縫目やジッパーの様な応力点の位置で大きくなっているが、布地
の全体的な特徴、例えば染料の種類、織り方、糸の番手、繊維の種類、等、およ
び洗濯物の構成、例えばサイズ、重量、および洗濯物の数、によっても影響され
ることが分かっている。この問題は、何度も洗濯することにより、さらに悪化す
ることも分かっている。
この分野では、米国特許第4,834,895号、1頁の19〜32行に記載
されている様に、布地柔軟剤組成物が、濯いだ、および/または乾燥させた布地
に、柔軟性および/または帯電防止特性および/または新鮮な印象、の様な利点
を与えることが分かっているが、ここで本発明者は驚くべきことに、布地柔軟剤
成分を含んでなる布地柔軟組成物が、外観の低下、例えば布地の毛羽立ちおよび
/または変色、の問題も改善することを発見した。
そこで本発明の利点は、布地に効果的な色の正確さおよび輪郭の厳密性を与え
ることである。その様な利点は、多くの洗濯サイクルにより大幅に増大すること
も分かっている。理論に捕らわれることはないが、濯ぎおよび/または乾燥サイ
クル中に柔軟剤成分を付与することにより、次の洗濯サイクルの際に、布地の変
色の様な布地の外観低下が防止または低減されると考えられる。発明の概要
本発明は、布地の外観低下を防止または低減するための、少なくとも1種の布
地柔軟剤成分を含んでなる布地柔軟組成物の使用に関する。
発明の詳細な説明
本発明は、布地の外観低下を防止または低減するための、少なくとも1種の布
地柔軟剤成分を含んでなる布地柔軟剤組成物の使用に関する。布地柔軟剤成分
本発明の必須成分は布地柔軟剤成分である。柔軟剤組成物中の該布地柔軟剤成
分の代表的な量は、組成物の1〜99重量%である。液体組成物の配合手法に応
じて、液体組成物は、布地柔軟成分の好ましい量が1〜5重量%である希釈液で
も、あるいは布地柔軟化成分の好ましい量が5〜80重量%、より好ましくは1
0〜50重量%、最も好ましくは15〜35重量%である濃縮液でもよい。非イ
オン系布地柔軟剤成分が存在する場合、組成物中の非イオン系柔軟剤の量は一般
的に0.1〜10%、好ましくは1〜5%である。布地柔軟剤組成物を、ドライ
ヤーシートの様な基材上に塗布する場合、布地柔軟剤成分の好ましい量は20〜
99重量%、より好ましくは30〜90重量%、さらに好ましくは35〜80重
量%である。
該布地柔軟化成分は、陽イオン系、非イオン系、両性または陰イオン系布地柔
軟化成分から選択することができる。
好ましい代表的な陽イオン系布地柔軟化成分としては、非水溶性第4級アンモ
ニウム布地柔軟化活性成分があり、二長アルキル鎖(di-long alkyl chain)アン
モニウムクロリドまたはメチルサルフェートが最も一般的に使用されている。こ
れらの中で、好ましい陽イオン系柔軟剤としては下記の物質がある。
1)ジタロウジメチルアンモニウムクロリド(DTDMAC)、
2)ジ水素化タロウジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
3)ジ水素化タロウジメチルアンモニウムメチルサルフェート、
4)ジステアリルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
5)ジオレイルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
6)ジパルミチルヒドロキシエチルメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
7)ステアリルベンジルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
8)タロウトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
9)水素化タロウトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
10)C12-14アルキルヒドロキシエチルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
11)C12-18アルキルジヒドロキシエチルメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
12)ジ(ステアロイルオキシエチル)ジメチルアンモニウムクロリド(DSO
EDMAC)、
13)ジ(タロウオイルオキシエチル)ジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
14)ジタロウイミダゾリニウムメチルサルフェート、
15)1−(2−タロウイルアミドエチル)−2−タロウイルイミダゾリニウム
メチルサルフェート。
しかし、近年では、環境的により好ましい物質が必要とされ、伝統的に使用さ
れて来た二長アルキル鎖アンモニウムクロリドおよびメチルサルフェートの代替
品として、急速に分解する生物分解性の第4級アンモニウム化合物が使用されて
いる。その様な第4級アンモニウム化合物は、カルボキシル基の様な官能基によ
り中断された長鎖のアルキル(アルケニル)基を含む。該物質およびそれを含む
布地柔軟化組成物は、EP−A−0,040,562号、およびEP−A−0
,239,910号の各明細書の様な多くの文献に記載されている。
本発明の第4級アンモニウム化合物およびアミン前駆物質は、下記の式(I)ま
たは(II)を有する
または式中、Qは−O−C(O)−、−C(O)−O−、−O−C(O)−O−、−N
R4−C(O)−、−C(0)−NR4−から選択され、
R1は(CH2)n−Q−T2またはT3であり、
R2は(CH2)m−Q−T4またはT5またはR3であり、
R3はC1〜C4アルキルまたはC1〜C4ヒドロキシアルキルまたはHであり、
R4はHまたはC1〜C4アルキルまたはC1〜C4ヒドロキシアルキルであり、
T1、T2、T3、T4、T5は、独立してC11〜C22アルキルまたはアルケニルで
あり、
nおよびmは1〜4の整数であり、
X-は、柔軟剤と相容性がある陰イオンである。
柔軟剤と相容性がある陰イオンとしてはクロリドまたはメチルサルフェートが
あるが、これらに限定されるものではない。
アルキルまたはアルケニルの鎖T1、T2、T3、T4、T5は、少なくとも11
個の炭素原子、好ましくは少なくとも16個の炭素原子を含む。鎖は直鎖でも分
枝鎖でもよい。
タロウは、長鎖アルキルおよびアルケニル材料の都合の良い、安価な供給源で
ある。T1、T2、T3、T4、T5がタロウに代表的な長鎖の混合物を表す化合物
が特に好ましい。
本発明において水性布地柔軟化組成物で使用するのに好適な第4級アンモニウ
ム化合物の具体例としては、
1)N,N−ジ(タロウイル−オキシ−エチル)−N,N−ジメチルアンモニウ
ムクロリド、
2)N,N−ジ(タロウイル−オキシ−エチル)−N−メチル、N−(2−ヒド
ロキシエチル)アンモニウムメチルサルフェート、
3)N,N−ジ(2−タロウイル−オキシ−2−オキソ−エチル)−N,N−ジ
メチルアンモニウムクロリド、
4)N,N−ジ(2−タロウイル−オキシ−エチルカルボニル−オキシ−エチル
)−N,N−ジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
5)N−(2−タロウイル−オキシ−2−エチル)−N−(2−タロウイル−オ
キシ−2−オキソ−エチル)−N,N−ジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、
6)N,N,N−トリ(タロウイル−オキシ−エチル)−N−メチルアンモニウ
ムクロリド、
7)N−(2−タロウイル−オキシ−2−オキソ−エチル)−N−(タロウイル
−N,N−ジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、および
8)1,2−ジタロウイル−オキシ−3−トリメチルアンモニオプロパンクロリ
ド、および上記材料の混合物がある。
これらの中で、化合物1〜7は式(I)の化合物の例であり、化合物8は式(II)
の化合物の例である。タロウ鎖が少なくとも部分的に不飽和であるN,N−ジ(
タロウイル−オキシ−エチル)−N,N−ジメチルアンモニウムクロリドが特に
好ましい。タロウ鎖の不飽和度は対応する脂肪酸のヨウ素価(IV)により測定
でき、本発明の場合、ヨウ素価は5〜100の範囲内にあるのが好ましいが、I
Vが25未満であるか、または25を超える化合物の2種類に分けられる。実際
、IVが5〜25、好ましくは15〜20であるタロウ脂肪酸から製造された式
(I)の化合物に関して、シス/トランス異性体の重量比が30/70を超える、
好ましくは50/50を超える、より好ましくは70/30を超える場合に最適
な濃縮性が得られることが分かった。IVが25を超えるタロウ脂肪酸から製造
された式(I)の化合物に関して、非常に高い濃縮度を必要としない限り、シス対
トランス異性体の比はそれ程重要ではないことが分かった。
式(I)および(II)の好適な第4級アンモニウムの他の例は、例えば、
−上記化合物中の「タロウ」を、例えばココ、パーム、ラウリル、オレイル、リ
シノレイル、ステアリル、パルミチル、等(該脂肪アシル鎖は完全に飽和である
か、または好ましくは少なくとも部分的に不飽和である)で置き換えることによ
り、
−上記化合物中の「メチル」をエチル、エトキシ、プロピル、プロポキシ、イソ
プロピル、ブチル、イソブチルまたはt−ブチルで置き換えることにより、
−上記化合物中の「クロリド」をブロミド、メチルサルフェート、ホルメート、
サルフェート、ナイトレート、等で置き換えることにより、得られる。
実際、陰イオンは正に帯電した第4級アンモニウム化合物の対イオンとして存
在するだけである。対イオンの性質は本発明の実施にとってまったく重要ではな
い。本発明の範囲は、どの様な特定の陰イオンによっても制限されない。「それ
らのアミン前駆物質」とは、上記の第4級アンモニウム化合物に対応する第2級
または第3級アミンを意味し、該アミンは、pH値のために本発明の組成物中で
実質的にプロトン化されている。
生物分解性布地柔軟剤に加えて、またはその代わりに、追加の布地柔軟化材料
を使用することができる。これらの材料は、非イオン系、両性または非イオン系
布地柔軟化材料から選択することができる。その様な材料は、米国特許第4,3
27,133号、米国特許第4,421,792号、米国特許第4,426,2
99号、米国特許第4,460,485号、米国特許第3,644,203号、
米国特許第4,661,269号、米国特許第4,439,335号、米国特許
第3,861,870号、米国特許第4,308,151号、米国特許第3,8
86,075号、米国特許第4,233,164号、米国特許第4,401,5
78号、米国特許第3,974,076号、米国特許第4,237,016号、
およびヨーロッパ特許第472,178号の各明細書に記載されている。
典型的には、その様な非イオン系布地柔軟化材料は、HLBが約2〜約9、よ
り一般的には約3〜約7である。その様な非イオン系布地軟化材料は、それ自体
で、または以下に詳細に説明する単長鎖アルキル陽イオン系界面活性剤の様な他
の材料と組み合わせた時に、容易に分散する傾向がある。分散性は、より多くの
単長鎖アルキル陽イオン系界面活性剤、以下に記載する他の材料との混合物、よ
り高温の水、および/またはより多くの攪拌、を使用することにより、改善する
ことができる。一般的に、比較的結晶性で、融点が高く(例えば>40℃)、水
に対して比較的不溶性の材料を選択すべきである。好ましい非イオン系柔軟剤は
、多価アルコールまたはその無水物の脂肪酸部分エステルであり、このとき、そ
のアルコールまたは無水物は2〜18、好ましくは2〜8個の炭素原子を含み、
各脂肪酸部分は12〜30個、好ましくは16〜20個の炭素原子を含む。典型
的には、その様な柔軟剤は、分子1個あたり1〜3個、好ましくは2個の脂肪酸
基を含む。
このエステルの多価アルコール部分は、エチレングリコール、グリセロール、
ポリ(例えばジ−、トリ−、テトラ−、ペンタ−、および/またはヘキサ−)グ
リセロール、キシリトール、スクロース、エリトリトール、ペンタエリトリトー
ル、ソルビトールまたはソルビタンであることができる。ソルビタンエステルお
よびポリグリセロールモノステアレートが特に好ましい。
前記エステルの脂肪酸部分は、一般的に12〜30個、好ましくは16〜20
個の炭素原子を有する脂肪酸に由来し、該脂肪酸の代表例は、ラウリン酸、ミリ
スチン酸、パルミチン酸、ステアリン酸およびベヘン酸である。
本発明で所望により使用する、非常に好ましい非イオン系柔軟剤は、ソルビト
ールのエステル化脱水生成物であるソルビタンエステル、およびグリセロールエ
ステルである。商品化されているソルビタンモノステアレートが好ましい材料で
ある。ステアレート/パルミテートの重量比が約10:1〜約1:10であるソ
ルビタンステアレートおよびソルビタンパルミテートの混合物、および1,5−
ソルビタンエステルも有用である。
グリセロールおよびポリグリセロールエステル、特にグリセロール、ジグリセ
ロール、トリグリセロール、およびポリグリセロールのモノ−および/またはジ
−エステル、好ましくはモノ−エステルが本発明では好ましい(例えば商品名Ra
diasurf 7248のポリグリセロールモノステアレート)。
有用なグリセロールおよびポリグリセロールエステルとしては、ステアリン酸
、オレイン酸、パルミチン酸、ラウリン酸、イソステアリン酸、ミリスチン酸、
および/またはベヘン酸とのモノエステル、およびステアリン酸、オレイン酸、
パルミチン酸、ラウリン酸、イソステアリン酸、ベヘン酸、および/またはミリ
スチン酸のジエステルがある。無論、代表的なモノ−エステルは、ある程度のジ
−およびトリ−エステル、等を含む。
「グリセロールエステル」は、ポリグリセロール、例えばジグリセロール〜オク
タグリセロールのエステル、も含む。ポリグリセロールポリオールは、グリセリ
ンまたはエピクロロヒドリンを縮合させ、エーテル結合を介してグリセロール部
分を結合することにより、形成される。ポリグリセロールポリオールのモノ−お
よび/またはジエステルが好ましく、脂肪アシル基は典型的には、ソルビタンお
よびグリセロールエステルに関して上に記載した物質である。
ここで使用するのに好ましい他の布地柔軟化成分は、EP−A−0,150,
531に記載されているイオン交換容量が低いクレーの様な、柔軟化クレーであ
る。
上記の布地柔軟剤、特に生物分解性布地柔軟剤に関して、本発明の液体組成物
のpHは、本発明の不可欠なパラメータである。実際、pHは第4級アンモニウ
ムまたはアミン前駆化合物の安定性に、特に長期間の貯蔵条件下で影響する。本
明細書で定義するpHは、正味の組成物で20℃で測定する。これらの組成物の
最適な加水分解安定性を得るには、上記の条件下で測定した、正味のpHが2.
0〜4.5でなければならない。好ましくは、本発明の液体布地軟化組成物が濃
縮形態にある場合、正味の組成物のpHは、2.0〜3.5であり、希釈した形
態にある場合、正味の組成物のpHは、2.0〜3.0である。本発明のこれら
の組成物のpHは、ブレンステッド酸の添加により調節することができる。好適
な酸の例としては、無機鉱酸、カルボン酸、特に低分子量(C1〜C5)カルボン
酸、およびアルキルスルホン酸がある。好適な無機酸としては、HCl、H2S
O4、HNO3およびH3PO4がある。好適な有機酸には、ギ酸、酢酸、クエン酸
、メチルスルホン酸、およびエチルスルホン酸がある。好ましい酸はクエン酸、
塩酸、リン酸、ギ酸、メチルスルホン酸、および安息香酸である。補助成分
組成物は、必要に応じて、界面活性剤濃縮助剤、電解質濃縮助剤、周知の酸化
防止剤および還元剤の様な安定剤、汚れ放出重合体、乳化剤、殺菌剤、着色剤、
香料、保存剤、光学ブライトナー、イオン化防止剤、消泡剤および酵素の様な補
助成分も含むことができる。これらの成分、特に少量成分、および特に香料は、
通常、ゼオライト、デンプン、シクロデキストリン、ワックス、等のような「担
体材料」と共に添加し、これらの材料で保護するのが好ましい。界面活性剤濃縮助剤
必要に応じて界面活性剤濃縮助剤も使用できる。界面活性剤濃縮助剤は、典型
的には、単長鎖アルキル陽イオン系界面活性剤、非イオン系界面活性剤、アミン
オキシド、脂肪酸、およびそれらの混合物、から選択し、典型的には組成物の0
〜15%の量で使用する。単長鎖アルキル陽イオン系界面活性剤
本発明で有用なその様な単長鎖アルキル陽イオン系界面活性剤は、好ましくは
下記の一般式を有する第4級アンモニウム塩である。
[R2N+R3]X-
式中、R2基はC10〜C22炭化水素基、好ましくはエステル結合とNの間に短い
アルキレン(C1〜C4)基を有する、対応するエステル結合が中断された基であ
るC12〜C18アルキル基であり、類似の炭化水素基、例えばコリンの脂肪酸エス
テル、好ましくはC12〜C14(ココ)コリンエステルおよび/またはC16〜C18
タロウコリンエステルを柔軟剤活性成分の0.1重量%〜20重量%含む。各R
はC1〜C4アルキルまたは置換(例えばヒドロキシ)アルキル、または水素、好
ましくはメチルであり、対イオンX-は柔軟剤と相容性のある陰イオン、例えば
クロリド、ブロミド、メチルサルフェート、等である。
環状構造を有する他の陽イオン系材料、例えば単一のC12〜C30アルキル鎖を
有するアルキルイミダゾリン、イミダゾリニウム、ピリジン、およびピリジニウ
ム塩も使用できる。例えばイミダゾリン環構造を安定化させるには、非常に低い
pHが必要である。
本発明で有用なある種のアルキルイミダゾリニウム塩およびそれらのイミダゾ
リン前駆物質は下記の一般式を有する。
式中、Y2は−C(O)−O−、−O−(O)C−、−C(O)−N(R5)一、
または−N(R5)−C(O)−であり、R5は水素またはC1〜C4アルキル基で
あり、R6はC1〜C4アルキル基またはH(イミダゾリン前駆物質に関して)で
あり、R7およびR8はそれぞれ独立して、単長鎖陽イオン系界面活性剤に関して
上に定義したRおよびR2から選択され、一方だけがR2である。
本発明で有用なある種のアルキルピリジニウム塩は下記の一般式を有する。
式中、R2およびX-は上に定義した通りである。この種の代表的な物質はセチル
ピリジニウムクロリドである。非イオン系界面活性剤(アルコキシル化材料)
ここで使用するのに好適な非イオン系界面活性剤としては、エチレンオキシド
および、必要に応じて、プロピレンオキシドの、脂肪アルコール、脂肪酸、脂肪
アミン、等との付加生成物がある。好適な化合物は、下記の一般式を有する実質
的に水溶性の界面活性剤である。
R2−Y−(C2H4O)z−C2H4OH
式中、R2は第1級、第2級、および分枝鎖アルキルおよび/またはアシルヒド
ロカルビル基、第1級、第2級、および分枝鎖アルケニルヒドロカルビル基、お
よび第1級、第2級、および分枝鎖アルキル−およびアルケニル−置換フェノー
ル性ヒドロカルビル基、から選択され、該ヒドロカルビル基は、8〜20、好ま
しくは10〜18個の炭素原子のヒドロカルビル鎖長を有する。
Yは典型的には−O−、−C(O)O−、−C(O)N(R)−、または−C(
O)N(R)R−であり、R2およびRは、存在する場合、上記の意味を有する
、および/またはRは水素でよく、zは少なくとも8、好ましくは少なくとも1
0〜11である。この非イオン系界面活性剤は、HLB(親水性−親油性バラン
ス)が7〜20、好ましくは8〜15である。特に好適な非イオン系界面活性剤
の例としては、下記のものがある。
−直鎖、第1級アルコールアルコキシレート、例えばタロウアルコール−EO(
11)、タロウアルコール−EO(18)、およびタロウアルコール−EO(2
5)、
−直鎖、第2級アルコールアルコキシレート、例えば2−C16EO(11)、2
−C20EO(11)、および2−C16EO(14)、
−アルキルフェノールアルコキシレート、例えばp−トリデシルフェノールEO
(11)およびp−ペンタデシルフェノールEO(18)、ならびに
−オレフィン系アルコキシレート、および分枝鎖アルコキシレート、例えば周知
の“OXO”製法により得られる、分枝鎖第1級および第2級アルコール。アミンオキシド
好適なアミンオキシドには、8〜28個の炭素原子、好ましくは8〜16個の
炭素原子を含むアルキルまたはヒドロキシアルキル部分1個、および1〜3個の
炭素原子を含むアルキル基およびヒドロキシアルキル基から選択されたアルキル
部分2個、を含むアミンオキシドがある。
例としては、ジメチルオクチルアミンオキシド、ジエチルデシルアミンオキシ
ド、ビス−(2−ヒドロキシエチル)ドデシルアミンオキシド、ジメチルドデシ
ルアミンオキシド、ジプロピルテトラデシルアミンオキシド、メチルエチルヘキ
サデシルアミンオキシド、ジメチル−2−ヒドロキシオクタデシルアミンオキシ
ド、およびココナッツ脂肪アルキルジメチルアミンオキシド、がある。脂肪酸
好適な脂肪酸としては、12〜25、好ましくは16〜20個の総炭素原子を
含み、脂肪部分が10〜22、好ましくは15〜17(中間カット)個の炭素原
子を含む、脂肪酸がある。電解質濃縮助剤
界面活性剤濃縮助剤の様に作用することができるか、またはその効果を増大さ
せることができる無機粘度調整剤には、水溶性のイオン化し得る塩があり、本発
明の組成物に必要に応じて配合することができる。これらの成分は、非常に遅い
速度で組成物に配合しなければならない。
非常に様々なイオン化し得る塩を使用することができる。好適な塩の例は、元
素周期律表のIAおよびIIA族に属する金属のハロゲン化物、例えば塩化カルシ
ウム、塩化マグネシウム、塩化ナトリウム、臭化カリウム、および塩化リチウム
である。イオン化し得る塩は、各成分を混合して本発明の組成物を製造して、後
で所望の粘度を得る工程で特に有用である。イオン化し得る塩の使用量は、組成
物に使用する活性成分の量により異なり、処方者の所望により調節することがで
きる。組成物粘度の調整に使用する塩の代表的な量は、組成物の百万分の20〜
20,000重量部(ppm)、好ましくは20〜11,000ppmである。
上記の水溶性のイオン化し得る塩に加えて、またはその代わりに、アルキレン
ポリアンモニウム塩を組成物中に配合することができる。さらに、これらの物質
は脱除剤として作用し、濯ぎ中および布地上で、主要洗濯液から持ち越される陰
イオン系洗剤とイオン対を形成し、柔軟化性能を改善することができる。これら
の物質は、無機電解質と比較して、広い温度範囲で、特に低温で、粘度を安定化
させることができる。アルキレンポリアンモニウム塩の具体的な例としては、1
−リシン一塩酸塩および1,5−ジアンモニウム2−メチルペンタン二塩酸塩が
ある。
別の成分は液体キャリヤーである。好適な液体キャリヤーは、水、有機溶剤お
よびそれらの混合物、から選択される。本発明の組成物に使用する液体キャリヤ
ーは、比較的低コストで入手できること、安全性、および環境との相容性のため
に、少なくとも主として水が好ましい。液体キャリヤー中の水の量は、好ましく
は少なくともキャリヤーの50重量%、最も好ましくは少なくとも60重量%で
ある。水および低分子量、例えば<200、の有機溶剤、例えばエタノール、プ
ロパノール、イソプロパノールまたはブタノール、の様な低級アルコール、の混
合物が、液体キャリヤーとして有用である。低分子量アルコールには、1価、2
価(グリコール、等)、3価(グリセロール、等)、および多価(ポリオール)
アルコールがある。組成物の形態
布地柔軟化組成物は、水性または非水性組成物の様な液体および固体粒子状形
態の様な固体形態を含む様々な物理的形態を採ることができる。その様な組成物
は、ドライヤーシート製品の様な基材上に塗布することができ、濯ぎの際に加え
る製品として、あるいはスプレーまたは発泡製品として、使用することができる
。スプレーまたは発泡製品として使用する場合、組成物は、布地上に、あるいは
乾燥機ドラム表面の様なドラム表面上にさえ、都合良くスプレーすることができ
る。これによって、布地上に組成物を均一に分散させることができる。製法
布地柔軟化組成物は、当業者に周知の製法により都合良く製造することができ
