トラニオン6の内側面側に回転自在に支持したパワーローラ8Aの軸方向両端面(図1〜3の上下両端面)のうち、上記トラニオン6と反対側に存在する内端面35の外径寄り部分を内径寄り部分よりも軸方向に凹ませる事により、この内端面35の直径方向中間部に、段差37を形成している。そして、この段差37よりも内径寄り部分を、全周に亙り外径寄り部分よりも軸方向に突出した、環状凸部38としている。尚、この環状凸部38の外径D38は、上記パワーローラ8の内径R8Aの1.1〜1.8倍程度{D38≒(1.1〜1.8)R8A}に規制する。又、上記パワーローラ8Aをトロイダル型無段変速機に組み込み、このパワーローラ8Aの周面8aと、入力側、出力側両ディスク2、4の内側面2a、4a(図5〜7参照)とを軽く(殆ど無負荷状態で)当接させた場合に於ける当接点P(図10〜11参照)が、上記周面8aの小径側端縁よりも少し(接触楕円が内端面35側にはみ出さない様にできる分)だけ、この周面8aの幅方向中央寄り(トラニオン6寄り)に存在する様に、上記段差37の高さH37を規制する。
