Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of an electrical contactor by decreasing the rate of temperature rise at a contact. SOLUTION: A rivet type contact 2 has a head 2a with a diameter of, e.g. 5 mm, and a leg part 2b with a diameter of 3 mm is projected from the center of the head 2a. A base material 1 is in the form of a strip that is, e.g. 1.5 mm thick, 5 mm wide, and 30 mm long, with a contact mounting hole 10 bored therethrough. The contact mounting hole 10 as viewed on a plane is shaped like, e.g. eight isosceles triangles, each having an apex angle of 90 degrees and a height of 0.2 mm and projected from a circle having a diameter of 3.5 mm toward the center of the circle. When the leg part 2b of the rivet type contact 2 is inserted into the contact mounting hole 10 in the base material 1, clearance that is about 0.25 mm at a maximum and 0.05 mm at a minimum forms between the leg part 2b and the contact mounting hole 10, but since the leg 2b is crushed and widened due to crimping and enters into the clearance, the leg part 2b and the contact mounting hole 10 are held in close contact to each other with no clearance therebetween.

And a rivet-type contact 2. Base material 1
A round contact mounting hole 10 is formed in a strip-shaped copper material. The rivet type contact 2 includes a contact tip 20 and a rivet base 21. The contact chip 20 has a disk shape. As the material of the contact chip 20, a substance containing silver and a metal oxide such as tin oxide, which has high conductivity, withstands arc heat generated at the time of contact opening and closing, and has little surface roughness due to the arc, is usually used. The rivet base metal 21 is formed by processing a copper bar material, and is formed into a T-shape in a side view by forming a cylindrical base metal leg 21b at the center of a disk-shaped base metal head 21a.

However, the contacts are heated by arc heat generated when the contacts are opened and closed, and Joule heat due to contact resistance between the contacts when the contacts are normally closed. Then, when the contacts are heated, the wear due to the evaporation of the contact material due to the rise in the surface temperature and the high wear due to the repeated impact force due to the softening of the contact material and the opening and closing of the contacts are likely to occur. In addition, when the contact is closed, the melted contact surface solidifies, so that welding easily occurs. Further, at the time of electrical opening, if the contact surface temperature is high immediately after the current zero point, thermoelectrons are easily emitted from the contact surface, so that re-ignition is likely to occur. Furthermore, since the contact portion 12 has a substantially cylindrical shape or a substantially frusto-conical cylindrical shape, the torsion strength is weak, and the contact state of the contact portion 12 at the time of opening and closing the contact is likely to be unstable, and the above-described wear and tear Welding,
There is a problem that re-ignition easily occurs and the life is shortened.

Specifically, the rivet type contact 2 has a head 2a having a diameter of 5 mm, for example, and a leg 2b having a diameter of 3 mm protrudes from the center of the head 2a. The base member 1 is, for example, a strip having a thickness of 1.5 mm, a width of 5 mm, and a length of 30 mm, and has a contact mounting hole 10 formed therein. As shown in FIG. 1B, the contact mounting hole 10 has a vertical angle of 90 degrees and a height of 0.2 mm from a circle having a diameter of 3.5 mm toward the center of the circle as shown in FIG. The shape is such that eight equilateral triangles protrude.

Therefore, when the leg 2b of the rivet type contact 2 is inserted into the contact mounting hole 10 of the base 1, the maximum distance between the leg 2b and the contact mounting hole 10 is 0.25 mm and the minimum is 0.05 m.
Although a gap of about m is generated, the leg portion 2b is crushed and spread by caulking, and the leg portion 2b enters the gap, so that the leg portion 2b and the contact mounting hole 10 come into close contact with each other without a gap.

Therefore, in the electric contact in which the rivet type contact 2 is crimped in the contact mounting hole 10 as described above, the contact area between the base member 1 and the rivet type contact 2 in the crimped portion is large. Thus, heat can be easily released from the rivet-type contact 2 to the base material 1, and a rise in the temperature of the rivet-type contact 2 can be suppressed. The leg 2 of the rivet type contact 2
Since the flesh b enters the gap between the protruding portions 11, 11, the torsion strength can be increased. In other words, the contact state between the base material 1 and the rivet type contact 2 is stable, wear, welding, and restriking are unlikely to occur, and good contact switching performance can be maintained for a long period of time.

Therefore, in the electric contact in which the rivet-type contact 2 is crimped to the contact mounting hole 10 as described above, the contact area between the base member 1 and the rivet-type contact 2 in the crimped portion is large. Thus, heat can be easily released from the rivet-type contact 2 to the base material 1, and a rise in the temperature of the rivet-type contact 2 can be suppressed. The leg 2 of the rivet type contact 2
Since b enters the gap between the protrusions 11, the torsion strength can be increased. That is, the contact state between the base material 1 and the rivet type contact 2 becomes stable, and wear, welding, and restriking hardly occur.
Good contact switching performance can be maintained over a long period of time.

As shown in FIG. 5, the contact mounting hole 10 is formed by punching the base material 1 using a punch 3 and a lower base 4 with a press machine. The punch 3 is a rod-shaped member made of a hard material such as carbon steel subjected to a heat treatment such as quenching. The lower base 4 is formed of a hard material such as carbon steel subjected to a heat treatment such as quenching, has a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape, and is provided with a hole 41 into which the punch 3 can be inserted.

By the way, the corners of the punch 3 wear out during repeated use, and require re-polishing or replacement. However, the contact mounting hole 1
At 0, the angle of the concave portion 13 of the contact mounting hole 10 corresponding to the projecting corner 30 of the punch 3 is set to an obtuse angle of 145 degrees 41 minutes, so that the projecting corner 30 of the punch 3 is also obtuse. It is hard to wear, does not require much re-grinding or replacement of the punch 3, and can improve productivity when forming the contact mounting holes 10 in the base material 1.
