本物品は、屋根のけらばに施工される袖がわらである。斜視図に示すように、葺設時に雨水を受ける本体部と、本体部の幅方向一方より垂下される垂下部と、垂下部より外方側へ伸びる水受け部とを備える。また、本体部上面の幅方向一方側には、屋根の流れ方向に延び、先端である水下側が他方側かつ水下側へ斜めに曲げられた溝部が設けられている。前記溝部のさらに一方側には、屋根の流れ方向に伸び、先端である水下側が他方側かつ水下側へ斜めに曲げられた水返し部が設けられている。さらに、本体部の頭見付は、隣接する瓦、特に桟山部と谷部とを備える平板瓦の頭見付のうち下段に葺かれる瓦の桟山がはまるよう凹ませて小さくなった頭見付の高さ（肉厚方向）と、略同一の高さとなっている。袖がわらの垂下部は、流下した雨水が水受け部や垂下部先端を経由して下段に葺設される袖がわらの水受け部水上側に伝わるようになっている。なお、平面図における上下方向の長さは、約３６０ｍｍである。This article is a straw sleeve that is installed on the roof.
