Description
"Bicicletta pieghevole" "Folding bike"
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a folding bicycle, and more precisely a folding bicycle of the so-called "full-size" type, ie a bicycle provided with normal-sized wheels (with a diameter between 26 "and 29").
Folding bicycles of the type identified above are known, and are becoming increasingly popular today, whose frame is configured to be folded back on itself so as to take up less space and thus be easily transported by hand, possibly welcomed. in a special suitcase, and / or stored where necessary, for example in the trunk of a car. The possibility of folding the bicycle, thus also significantly reducing its size, makes this means of transport much more usable in everyday life, as it eliminates or in any case significantly limits the problem of not having adequate space available. in which to store the bicycle when it is not to be used.
The known solutions of "full-size" folding bicycles are however not fully satisfactory in that either they do not guarantee, in the folded condition, a sufficiently reduced bulk or, on the other hand, to ensure a sufficiently reduced bulk they are constructively very complex.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to provide a "full-size" folding bicycle which is constructively simple and which at the same time is able to guarantee good performance in terms of stiffness and driveability in the unfolded condition (or condition of normal use) and to occupy a very small space in the folded condition (or non-use condition).
This and other purposes are fully achieved according to the present invention thanks to a "full-size" folding bicycle having the characteristics specified in the characterizing part of the attached independent claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims, the content of which is to be understood as an integral and integral part of the following description.
In summary, the invention is based on the idea of making a "fullsize" type folding bicycle whose frame is configured in such a way that a front portion of the front triangle is connected to the remaining rear portion of the front triangle in a way to be rotatable with respect to this around a first axis of rotation, oriented substantially vertically or inclined at an acute angle with respect to the vertical, to allow the median plane of the front wheel to be arranged parallel to and to distance with respect to the plane in which it is found in the unfolded condition or in normal use of the bicycle, and in which the rear stay can be rotated with respect to the front triangle around a second axis of rotation, oriented substantially transversely, so as to allow positioning , in the folded or non-use condition of the bicycle, the axis of the wheel po in correspondence with, or in any case close to, the axis of the front wheel. With a folding bicycle according to the invention, therefore, in the folded or non-use condition of the same, the front wheel and the rear wheel are substantially side by side, which allows the overall dimensions of the bicycle to be kept to a minimum even without having to disassemble one of the two wheels or even both wheels.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the first axis of rotation is oriented substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the steering column and / or to a longitudinal axis of the steering tube.
According to an embodiment of the invention, a front portion of the front triangle is hinged to the rear portion of the front triangle by means of a hinge comprising a first hinge part and a second hinge part pivoted to each other about the first axis rotation, the front portions of the top tube and the down tube being fixed to the first hinge part, and the rear portions of the top tube and the down tube being fixed to the second hinge part.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the second axis of rotation is substantially coincident with the axis of rotation of the pedals of the bicycle. Alternatively, the second axis of rotation is offset with respect to the axis of rotation of the pedals, for example arranged below this axis.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the chainstays of the rear stay are each hinged, at its lower end, to a respective chainstay so as to be able to rotate relative to this around a third axis of rotation parallel to the second axis of rotation and therefore be folded each on a respective chainstay in the folded condition or when the bicycle is not in use.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the third axis of rotation is offset with respect to the axis of rotation of the rear wheel, for example arranged above said axis.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the bicycle further comprises a connection structure for the releasable connection of the seat stays of the rear stay to the rear portion of the front triangle, the connection structure having a seat suitable for receiving a transverse pin which connects the the upper ends of the seat stays of the rear stay are placed on top of each other and it is also provided with locking means suitable for releasably locking the transverse pin inside the seat.
According to an embodiment of the invention, elastomeric material is interposed between the connecting structure and the transverse pin to allow cushioned movements of the transverse pin with respect to the connecting structure when the transverse pin is locked inside the seat.
Ulteriori caratteristiche e vantaggi della presente invenzione risulteranno in modo evidente dalla descrizione dettagliata che segue, data a puro titolo di esempio non limitativo, con riferimento ai disegni allegati, in cui: Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become evident from the detailed description which follows, given purely by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:

Figure 10 shows a detail of a folding bicycle according to a variant embodiment of the present invention.
With reference initially to Figures 1 to 5, a "fullsize" type folding bicycle according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is indicated as a whole with 10 and comprises, in a per se known manner, a frame 12, a fork 14 , a front wheel 16, a rear wheel 18, a handlebar 20, a saddle 22 and a pair of pedals 24.
As shown in more detail in Figures 6 to 9, the frame 12 comprises, in a known way, a front triangle 26 (otherwise also known as the main triangle) and a rear triangle 28. The front triangle 26 comprises, in known per se, a column 30, a top tube 32, an oblique tube 34 and a head tube 36. The rear stay 28 comprises, in a known way, a pair of chainstays 38 and a pair of chainstays high 40.
The front triangle 26 is divided into a front portion 26a, comprising the head tube 36, a front portion 32a of the top tube 32 and a front portion 34a of the down tube 34, and a rear portion 26b, comprising the steering column 30, a rear portion 32b of the top tube 32 and a rear portion 34b of the down tube 34. The front portion 26a is hinged to the rear portion 26b of the front triangle 26 so as to be able to rotate relative to this around an axis of rotation z, which It is oriented substantially vertically or inclined at an acute angle with respect to the vertical (for example oriented parallel, or approximately parallel, to the stem 30 and / or to the head tube 36). In this regard, according to the embodiment of the invention proposed here, as shown for example in Figures 6 and 8, the front section 32a of the horizontal tube 32 and the front section 34a of the down tube 34 are fixed to a first plate 42a of a hinge 42, while the rear portion 32b of the horizontal tube 32 and the rear portion 34b of the down tube 34 are fixed to a second plate 42b of the hinge 42, and the two plates 42a and 42b of the hinge 42 are hinged one to the other the other by means of one or more pins (not shown) whose axis defines the rotation axis z. The hinge 42 will obviously be provided with a suitable locking system to lock the two parts 42a and 42b of the same in the condition of normal use of the bicycle, in which the front part 26a of the front triangle 26 is not rotated with respect to the rear part 26b around to the axis of rotation z.
The chainstays 38 of the rear stay 28 are hinged, at their respective front ends, to the front triangle 26, more precisely to the rear part 26b of the latter, so as to be able to rotate with respect to this around an axis of rotation x1, which is oriented transversely, i.e. perpendicular to the median vertical plane of the bicycle or, in other words, parallel to the axes of rotation of the front wheel 16 and of the rear wheel 18.
In the embodiment of Figures 1 to 9, the axis of rotation x1 substantially coincides with the axis of rotation of the pedals 24.
Preferably, the chainstays 40 of the rear stay 28 are each hinged, at its lower end, to a respective chainstay 38 so as to be able to rotate with respect to this around an axis of rotation x2 parallel to the axis of rotation x1, therefore it too oriented transversely. Preferably, the rotation axis x2 is offset with respect to the rotation axis, indicated by x3, of the rear wheel 18, in particular it is positioned above the rotation axis x3, as can be clearly deduced for example from Figure 8.
The seat stays 40 of the rear stay 28 are also releasably connected, at their upper end, to the front triangle 26, more precisely to the rear portion 26b of the front triangle 26. In particular, according to the embodiment proposed here, the stays high 40 are connected to a connection structure 44 rigidly connected to the column 30 of the front triangle 26. As shown in detail in figure 7, as well as in figure 8, the connection structure 44 forms a seat 46 suitable for accommodating a transverse pin 48 which connects the upper ends of the seat stays 40 to each other and further comprises a locking member 50 adapted to lock the transverse pin 48 within the seat 46. The locking member 50 is movable between a locking position ( shown for example in figure 6), in which it retains the transverse pin 48 in the seat 46, and an unlocking position (shown for example in figures 7 and 8), in which it releases the transverse pin 48 from the seat 46. Advantageously, elastomeric material is interposed between the transverse pin 48 and the connection structure 44 to allow small cushioned movements to the transverse pin 48, when this is locked in the seat 46. In this regard, the transverse pin 48 can be accommodated, for example, within a sleeve of elastomeric material. In this way, a simple and effective damping system is obtained for the rear wheel of the bicycle.
Figures 1 and 2 show the bicycle 10 in the unfolded condition, or condition of normal use, in which the longitudinal axes of the tubes that make up the front triangle 26, that is to say the seatpost 30, the top tube 32, the down tube 34 and the head tube 36, lie in the same median vertical plane, in which also lie the median planes of the front wheel 16 and of the rear wheel 18 (where the median plane of the wheel means the plane equidistant from the two planes containing the opposite side edges of the wheel rim). Figure 6 shows only the frame 12, again in the unfolded condition.
Figures 3 and 4 instead show the bicycle 10 in the folded condition, or condition of non-use. In this condition, the rear stay 28, together with the rear wheel 18, is rotated with respect to the front triangle 26 around the axis of rotation x1 so as to be on the front side of the bicycle, in other words on the same side as the front wheel. 16 with respect to the stem 30. In this condition, in addition, the seat stays 40 are preferably rotated with respect to the chainstays 38 around the rotation axis x2, so as to extend substantially parallel to the latter and therefore reduce the overall dimensions to a minimum. of the tubes of which the rear stay 28 is composed. Again in this condition, the front portion 26a of the front triangle 26 is rotated with respect to the rear portion 26b around the axis of rotation z by an angle substantially equal to 90 °, so to extend substantially perpendicular to the median vertical plane of the bicycle. It follows that the axis of the steering tube 36 is in this condition no longer in the median vertical plane of the bicycle, but at a distance from that plane. As a result both of the disconnection of the seat stays 40 from the front triangle 26 and of the aforementioned rotation of the entire rear stay 28 around the axis of rotation x1 and of the aforementioned rotation of the front portion 26a of the front triangle 26 with respect to the rear portion 26b around the axis of rotation z, the front wheel 16 is arranged with its median plane parallel and spaced with respect to the vertical median plane of the bicycle and the rear wheel 18 is arranged substantially alongside the front wheel 16, the axis of the rear wheel 18 coinciding with the axis of the front wheel 16 or in any case being in proximity to the latter, as can be clearly seen above all from Figure 4. Figure 9 shows only the frame 12, again in the folded condition. When the bicycle is folded or not in use, it is particularly useful and comfortable to be able to drag the bicycle using its wheels, like a trolley, without having to lift it.
Figure 5 finally shows the bicycle 10 in a condition that is only partially folded, and more precisely in a condition in which the rear frame 28 is still in the position of normal use, while the front part 26a of the main triangle 26 is rotated with respect to the rear portion 26b around the axis of rotation z by an angle substantially equal to 90 ° and the front wheel 16 is oriented with its median plane parallel to the median vertical plane of the bicycle.
As previously said, according to the embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 9 the axis of rotation x1, that is the axis around which the rear stay 28 can rotate with respect to the front triangle 26, substantially coincides with the axis of rotation of the pedals 24. However, this condition is not necessary, in the sense that the axis of rotation x1 may not coincide with the axis of rotation of the pedals 24, even though it remains parallel to it. In this regard, Figure 10 shows a variant embodiment of the invention in which the axis of rotation x1 does not coincide with the axis of rotation of the pedals 24, but is arranged below the latter.
Naturally, the principle of the invention remaining the same, the embodiments and construction details may be widely varied with respect to what has been described and illustrated purely by way of non-limiting example, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the attached claims.
For example, a folding bicycle according to the present invention can indifferently be assembled / built as a "mountain bike", "city bike" or "trekking bike", it can indifferently mount a rigid or suspension front fork, it can indifferently use front and rear brakes of so-called "V-brake" or disc type, it can have any number of transmission ratios, it can have a gearbox external or internal to the rear wheel hub, it can use a chain, a belt, a cardan shaft as a transmission component telescopic, etc.
