Nel campo ortopedico chirurgico sono ormai usati molti tipi di placche per osteosintesi prodotte con leghe di titanio, acciaio od altri metalli. In alcune patologìe gravi dell’osso come in oncologia o nelle ostiomeliti infettive, l’utilizzo di questi materiali non aiuta la asepsia. In some serious bone pathologies such as in oncology or infectious osteomyelitis, the use of these materials does not help asepsia.

Il poter realizzare diverse placche in carbonio e di argento potrebbe fornire una valida alternativa ed un concreto aiuto alla asepsia. Being able to make different carbon and silver plates could provide a valid alternative and a concrete help to asepsia.

L’argento è un materiale pregiato ed ha la capacità di rilasciare degli ioni che aiutano alla detersione dei vari tessuti. L’unico problema è che l’argento da solo non è in grado di sostenere un grande peso perché tende a deformarsi con le varie _ sollecitazioni. La placca qui proposta (figura 1) è fatta con il carbonio coperto da resine epossidiche che sono biologicamente compatibili. Su ogni superficie della barra che andrà a contatto diretto con l’osso, sono stati posizionati dei fogli d’argento. Il carbonio è stato lavorato su diverse direzioni in modo da fornire la massima resistenza sia nel carico che nelle torsioni e varie sollecitazioni. Nella figura 1 è rappresentata: - una placca che è composta in tessuto di carbonio lavorato nei vari strati su tute le direzioni. - E’ usata una resina epossidica per ricoprire e fermare il tessuto di carbonio in modo tale che non possa sfiletarsi ed anzi resistere a qualsiasi forza. Nella figura 1 al punto 1 è indicato il carbonio rivestito di resina ipossidica. Al punto 2 è indicato il foglio di argento che ricopre solo di un lato la placca di carbonio. - Nel punto 3 sono rappresentati i fori con la filetatura in argento per l’auto bloccaggio delle viti sulla placca. - Nel punto 4 sullo stesso lato del foglio d’argento, è rappresentata la parte finale dei fori con un rialzo sporgente di circa 2 mm.CLAIMS Fairy plate for osteosynthesis of carbon and silver.
