Nel campo ortopedico chirurgico sono ormai usati molti tipi di placche per osteosintesi prodotte con leghe di titanio, acciaio od altri metalli. In alcune patologìe gravi dell’osso come in oncologia o nelle ostiomeliti infettive, l’utilizzo di questi materiali non aiuta la asepsia. In the orthopedic surgical field, many types of osteosynthesis plates produced with titanium alloys, steel or other metals are now used. In some serious bone pathologies such as in oncology or infectious osteomyelitis, the use of these materials does not help asepsia.
Il poter realizzare diverse placche in carbonio e di argento potrebbe fornire una valida alternativa ed un concreto aiuto alla asepsia. Being able to make different carbon and silver plates could provide a valid alternative and a concrete help to asepsia.
L’argento è un materiale pregiato ed ha la capacità di rilasciare degli ioni che aiutano alla detersione dei vari tessuti. L’unico problema è che l’argento da solo non è in grado di sostenere un grande peso perché tende a deformarsi con le varie _ sollecitazioni. La placca qui proposta (figura 1) è fatta con il carbonio coperto da resine epossidiche che sono biologicamente compatibili. Su ogni superficie della barra che andrà a contatto diretto con l’osso, sono stati posizionati dei fogli d’argento. Il carbonio è stato lavorato su diverse direzioni in modo da fornire la massima resistenza sia nel carico che nelle torsioni e varie sollecitazioni.
