Lo scopo dell'invenzione di cui si chiede la tutela è quello di realizzare un letto (singolo o matrimoniale) privo dei quattro piedi di appoggio e delle relative sponde e che inoltre abbia la possibilità, con un semplice gesto, di essere alzato ed abbassato, in maniera tale da facilitare il rigoverno della stanza in cui il manufatto si trova. Le aste (a), disposte a raggiera vengono fissate tramite bulloneria negli appositi incavi presenti nell'estremità superiore del cilindro (tavola I lettera e) mentre le aste (b), congiunte tramite bulloneria a tre delle otto aste che costituiscono la base a raggiera del letto, fungono da collegamento tra il sostegno a raggiera e le lastre (c ).
