It is a vertical axis generator with air conveyance, with blades that can be both concave and convex or flat. The latter, therefore, due to their conformation, subjected to the action of the wind would not be absolutely able to move, which, on the other hand, is obtained very well with the use of conveyors; in this way, however, the group of rotating blades (of whatever shape they are), is completely removed from the action of the wind contrary to the direction of rotation, thus obtaining, on the blades themselves, a more effective air pressure in the favorable direction and, consequently, making the mill much more powerful, with the same dimensions, compared to those with shaped blades and without conveyor, that is, essentially, to any other existing mill, with a vertical axis.
It emerged, however, in the aerodynamic tests, that (only in the case of mills of considerable size), for the correct automatic positioning of the conveyor, it would have been necessary to resort to very cumbersome wind orientation methods, which would have made it less advantageous the entire system, due to the objective need to occupy much more horizontal space for the same power output. On the other hand, the simplistic adoption, for the orientation of the conveyor, of any electromechanical solutions piloted by the wind, could certainly have made the system very effective and space-saving, but, in any case, no longer completely autonomous from sources. external energy sources (batteries, electricity grid, generator, solar panels, etc.). The correct and optimal solution was finally devised in the following way. The generator was developed by advantageously integrating two windmills of which at least one (the server), necessarily with flat blades. The first (which can directly support the alternator), called master, is intended exclusively for the main purpose: to produce electrical or mechanical energy. The second, of considerably smaller dimensions, which we call server, and is coaxial to the first (preferably mounted on the master), has instead the main purpose of appropriately orienting the air conveyor, connected to the server itself by means of a pinion and some gears, or through belts and pulleys (or pinion, gears, belts, pulleys and transmission chains), variously arranged (and in number), according to need.
The air conveyor is mounted on an eastern ball bearing, preferably anchored between the two mills and on their same axis, and is equipped with two shields rigidly integral with each other: one, which covers an arc of 90 °, extending upwards and positioned, for example, in the first quadrant (conveyor shield of the master), and the other downwards (conveyor shield of the server), which also covers an arc of 90 °, positioned, in the example, symmetrically between the second and third quadrant; the latter can be equipped with a stabilizing vertical hole, for the outflow of air, located in the center (45 °), and possibly also with an underlying rudder, again to give greater stability and, above all, an unequivocal response to wind than what is considered to be (even if not strictly speaking), the correct resting position (ie the leeward one, being the shield of the master, in this case and necessarily, upwind). The distance between them (conveyor shields), even though they are overturned by 180 ° with respect to each other, is therefore 45 ° on one side and 135 ° on the other side. The two shields are therefore positioned in such a way (on the circumference of rotation of the wings of the mills), that when the server mill stops due to lack of wind flow (precisely held by the relative shield / conveyor), the master mill reaches its maximum speed, favored by the optimal position of the relative shield. Any change in the direction of the wind will cause partial and asymmetrical exposure (to the air), of the flat blades of the server, which will move again, transmitting the rotation produced to the aforementioned series (varies), of pinion, belts, chains and gears, the the last of which is entangled with a toothed wheel integral and concentric with the conveyor; it will then be forced to rotate slowly, until reaching the new equilibrium position which corresponds, as explained, to the situation of maximum yield of the master mill.
Si rileva, infine (e per completezza), che: Finally (and for the sake of completeness) it is noted that:
-1 °) The adoption of an even number of gears will allow the conveyor to be pushed in the opposite direction to the rotation of the server, which would ensure an always favorable movement, and therefore less tiring. respect the wind direction.
-2 °) The server mill (we repeat, rigidly with flat blades), will rotate alternately according to the direction of the wind and the momentary position of the relative shield.
-3 °) The master mill could, on the other hand, rotate even in one direction only, regardless of the origin of the wind, provided that the server shield always assumes the same rest position relative to the air (for example , leeward), which can be easily obtained by adopting the aforementioned rudder; this would be indispensable if you want to use shaped blades for the master.
