La presente invenzione ha per oggetto una garza chirurgica del tipo precisato nel preambolo della prima rivendicazione. The present invention relates to a surgical gauze of the type specified in the preamble of the first claim.

Come è noto, la ritenzione di strumenti chirurgici all'interno del sito chirurgico, ossia del corpo del paziente, rappresenta un evento particolarmente diffuso ed atto a generare ostruzioni o infezioni in detto paziente. Tale problema risulta particolarmente frequente per le garze che, assorbendo sangue ed altri fluidi corporei, sono atte a mimetizzarsi, in maniera pressoché perfetta nel sito chirurgico rendendo estremamente difficile il loro rintracci amento. Oltre al suddetto aspetto, tra i principali fattori che possono determinare detta ritenzione di garze nel sito chirurgico possono essere menzionate le procedure chirurgiche effettuate in emergenza; cambiamenti inaspettati e quindi non programmati delle procedure durante l'intervento chirurgico; obesità del paziente; interventi che coinvolgono più di una equipe chirurgica; la complessità dell’intervento; la fatica o la stanchezza dell’equipe chirurgica e situazioni che favoriscono l’errore di conteggio, come ad esempio garze attaccate tra loro. Visto la suddetta complessità e varietà di cause è stata redatta, dai vari organi compenti pubblici e privati, una pluralità di regolamenti atti a coordinare le operazioni al fine di evitare di incorrere in tale dimenticanze. In particolare, tra le varie circolari redatte dal Ministero della salute, ricordiamo, a titolo di esempio, quella del 2 Marzo 2008 intitolata “Raccomandazione per prevenire la ritenzione di garze, strumenti o altro materiale all’interno del sito chirurgico”. CLAIMS 1. Surgical gauze (1) adapted to be placed in a surgical site comprising a body fluid; said surgical gauze (1) comprising an absorbent element (2) adapted to absorb said body fluid; and characterized in that it comprises coloring means (3) suitable for coloring at least partially said absorbent element (2) in the world to visually highlight said surgical gauze (1) with respect to said surgical site after said absorbent element (2) has absorbed said fluid bodily.

Surgical gauze (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein said absorbent element (2) is made of expanded polyurethane.

10. Surgical gauze (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, comprising a selective membrane (4) able to wrap said absorbent element (2) and able to allow the passage of said body fluid and to prevent the escape of said coloring means (3) from said surgical gauze (1).
