DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
"Method for pitting a mango fruit and device for implementing this method".
Background dell'Invenzione Background of the Invention
The present invention relates to a method for pitting a mango fruit and to a device for carrying out this method.
It is known that in order to use the mango fruit for the various possible uses, it is necessary to first remove the relative stone. The stone of the mango has a flattened shape, is hard and adheres to the pulp of the fruit, so the removal of the same from the rest of the fruit is not easy. In order to remove the mango stone, it is known to operate manually, by cutting the fruit substantially in half and then removing the stone manually, for example by means of a knife. Devices are also known which allow the core to be removed more quickly. A first type of device consists of a shaped blade associated with a gripping portion. The blade is shaped so as to define a central opening and at least two lateral blade portions. The mango fruit is passed through the blade and is therefore divided into at least three parts, a central part comprising the stone and two further lateral parts. This type of known devices allows the stone to be removed effectively and quickly from the mango fruit, but necessarily also involves cutting the fruit portion into at least two parts without the stone, which may be unnecessary for some uses of the fruit. Furthermore, this type of device has a sharp and easily accessible metal blade, and therefore can present problems of dangerousness of use, of deterioration over time of the blade which must always be carefully cleaned, and of inconvenience of use due to the shape of the device. Another known device for pitting a mango fruit consists of a tubular element having elastically deformable side walls and having a free cutting end shaped to be inserted into a mango fruit by removing the stone. This device is also provided with an extractor element inserted transversely in the tubular element and sliding in a seat obtained in the tubular element itself. This extractor element is associated with a pair of elastic elements, to deform the walls of the tubular element and try to keep the core inside the tubular element itself. The extractor element is pushed to a rear position during insertion of the device into a mango fruit, and can then be pushed back to an advanced position to extract the core from the tubular element. This known type of device has some drawbacks, including considerable structural complexity, high cost, reduced reliability over time, inconvenience of use and cleaning, etc ...

The invention also relates to a method for pitting a mango fruit 2 comprising the steps of at least partially inserting a substantially tubular cutting portion 6 of a pitting device 1 into a mango fruit 2, so as to accommodate at least one stone 10 and a part of the pulp 2a of the mango fruit 2 inside the cutting portion 6, remove the cutting portion 6 from a remaining pitted part 2b of the mango fruit 2 by removing at least the stone 10 and the aforementioned pulp part 2a from the fruit of mango 2; and removing the core 10 and the aforementioned pulp portion 2a from the cutting portion 6 by acting through an opening 9 or 11 of the cutting portion 6. The method may further comprise the step of removing a gripping portion 5 mounted at a access opening 11 of the cutting portion 6. The step of removing the core 10 and the aforementioned part of pulp 2a from the cutting portion 6 can be carried out by operating, preferably manually, through the access opening 11. In particular the core 10 and the aforementioned pulp part 2a can be pushed, manually or by means of a tool, by acting from the access opening 11 to make them come out of the opposite opening at the lower cutting end 7.
The step of removing the core 10 and the aforementioned pulp part 2a from the cutting portion 6 can be carried out by manually acting through at least one lateral opening 9 made along the longitudinal extension of the cutting portion 6 and spaced from the lower cutting end 7 . It is possible to act manually (for example by inserting a finger) or by means of a tool through the lateral opening 9 to extract the core 10 and the aforementioned part of pulp 2a to make them come out from the lower cutting end 7, even without disassembling the portion of gripping 5 from the cutting portion 6. It is also possible to use the lateral opening 9 to facilitate the extraction of the core 10 and of the aforementioned pulp part 2a while operating from the access opening 11, in case of difficulty in extraction. The method may further comprise the step of cutting, for example with a knife, a first end portion 2c of the mango fruit 2 before the step of at least partially inserting the cutting portion 6 into the mango fruit 2. As illustrated in figure 7 , the method may further comprise the step of removing, for example with a knife, also a second end portion 2d opposite to the first 2c of the mango fruit 2 before the step of at least partially inserting the cutting portion 6 into the mango fruit 2 . In this way the mango fruit 2 can be placed on a flat surface by applying the device 1 on its upper side and pushing the device 1 itself inside the fruit, as illustrated in figure 8.
