Descrizione della domanda di brevetto per invenzione industriale avente per titolo: “Sistema di misurazione dell’indice di rifrazione di una lente” Description of the patent application for industrial invention entitled: "Refractive index measurement system of a lens"
Campo tecnico dell’invenzione Technical field of the invention
The present invention generally relates to the sector of machines for cutting or welding by means of a laser. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system for measuring the variation of the refractive index of a lens used in cutting or welding machines.
Tecnica nota Known technique
It is known that in order to properly cut or weld a piece using a high power laser beam, the laser beam must be focused on the desired point of the piece to be machined.
Typically, the laser beam is focused on the workpiece by means of a lens and, during processing, the temperature of the lens can vary mainly due to the variation in power of the laser beam.
The temperature variation causes a variation in the focal distance of the lens with respect to the desired one: this causes a deterioration in the quality of the cut or welding.
It is therefore necessary to compensate for the variation in the focal distance of the lens, which can take place with different techniques.
A known technique is to measure in advance the variation of the focal distance of the lens for different values of the laser power and to use said values during the operation of the cutting or welding machine.
The Applicant has observed that a disadvantage of this known technique is to supply only a certain number of values: for example, no values are provided during a thermal transient, which is very frequent in the operation of a cutting or welding machine.
Another known technique is to measure the variation of the focal distance of the lens for different temperature values of a point of the lens and to use said values during the operation of the cutting or welding machine.
The Applicant has observed that a disadvantage of this known technique is to measure the temperature in points of the lens distant from the area crossed by the laser beam and therefore to provide inaccurate values of the variation of the focal distance of the lens.
Another known technique is to cool the lens to minimize the variation in the focal distance of the lens.
The Applicant has observed that a disadvantage of this known technique is that it does not compensate for the variation of the focal distance of the lens, thus accepting a variation of the focal distance and causing a deterioration in the quality of the cut or of the welding.
The US patent application with publication number US 2009/0212030 describes an automatic focus system used in machines that perform laser ablation. Said system uses a working laser beam and a laser beam for automatic focusing, both of which are reflected by the workpiece; a sensor is also used to measure the temperature of the optics present in the optical chain crossed by the working laser beam (see par.45). The laser beam for automatic focusing is reflected and received by a photodetector, by means of which the variation in the focal distance of the lens is measured and an actuator is driven to vary the position of the lens to correct the variation in the focal distance.
The Applicant has observed that a disadvantage of this known technique is that the characteristics of the workpiece affect the quality of the measurement of the variation of the focal distance (see paragraph 43); moreover it has the disadvantage of requiring the measurement of the temperature.

Descrizione dettagliata dell’invenzione Detailed description of the invention
With reference to Figure 1, a system 50 is shown for measuring the variation of the refractive index of a lens 2 according to a first embodiment of the invention.
The measurement system 50 comprises a working laser source 1, a lens 2, a workpiece 3, a laser measurement module 10, a measurement target 11 and a measurement module 20.
The measuring system 50 has the function of providing a measure of the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 also during a machining process (for example, cutting or welding) of the workpiece 3, in which said variation is caused by the variation in the temperature of the lens following a variation in the power of the radiation generated by the working laser source 1.
The working laser source 1 is such as to generate a working radiation 5 having a variable power.
The laser measurement module 10 comprises a laser source that exploits the self-interference effect (indicated in English with "self-mixing effect"), in which the laser source is such as to generate a first measurement radiation 12 and is such to receive at least part of a reflected measurement radiation 14 or at least part of a second inverse measurement radiation 15, which are affected by a modulation of the optical power which causes a modulation of the amplitude of the oscillating field in the laser cavity and consequently a modulation of the optical power of the first measurement radiation 12 generated by the laser measurement module 10. The modulation of the optical power of the first measurement radiation 12 is caused by the reception in the laser source of at least part of the reflected measurement radiation 14 or of the second radiation of inverse measurement 15 having a modulation of the optical power following the variation of the refractive index action n of a portion 8 of the lens 2, as will be explained in more detail below.
The laser measurement module 10 further comprises an optical sensor (for example, a photodetector) such as to detect at least part of the second inverse measurement radiation 15 or at least part of the first measurement radiation 12 or at least part of the reflected measurement radiation 14 or at least part of a second measurement radiation 13; alternatively, the optical sensor is such as to detect a part of a laser radiation generated by the laser source through a face other than that which generates the first measurement radiation 12 (for example, a rear face).
Furthermore, the optical sensor of the laser measurement module 10 is such as to generate, as a function of the detected radiation, a signal S∆λ indicative of a variation ∆λ of the wavelength of a second measurement radiation 16 with respect to an initial value λ0 of the length wave of the second measurement radiation 16, or indicative of a variation ∆λ of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of a first inverse measurement radiation 17 with respect to an initial value λ0 of the wavelength of the second radiation measurement 16 and the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
Figure 1 shows that the laser source of the first measurement radiation 12 and the optical sensor are integrated in a laser measurement module 10, but the invention is also applicable to the case where the laser source is separated from the optical sensor.
It should be noted that the invention is also applicable to the case in which the system 50 does not include the measurement objective 11: in this case the optical sensor is such as to detect at least part of the second measurement radiation 13 and, as a function of this, it is such as to generate the signal variation of the wavelength S∆λ.
It should be noted that the invention is also applicable to laser measurement modules 10 which do not exploit the effect of self-interference, such as for example a measurement laser source such as to generate the measurement radiation 12 and an optical sensor such as to detect at least part of the reflected measurement radiation 14 or of the second inverse measurement radiation 15 or of the second measurement radiation 13.
The workpiece 3 is such as to receive a focused working radiation 6, which is used to perform a machining on the workpiece 3, such as for example cutting or welding. For simplicity it is assumed that the workpiece has a surface 30 which is substantially flat, at least around the machining point.
The measurement objective 11 is such as to receive a second measurement radiation 13 and is such as to transmit the reflected measurement radiation 14 obtained by means of the reflection of at least part of the second measurement radiation 13.
The lens 2 has a refractive index n having an initial value n0, which corresponds to a focus F0 substantially placed on the surface 30 of the workpiece 3. The focus F0 is associated with a focal distance f0 indicated below also with a nominal focal distance to indicate that f0 is the value of the focal distance at which the working laser 1 performs the machining of the piece 3 in optimal working conditions. For example, the nominal focal distance f0 has a value equal to 127 mm.
The lens 2 comprises a portion 8 such as to be traversed both by at least part of the working radiation 5 and by a second measuring radiation 16 (and, preferably, also by a first inverse measuring radiation 17).
The lens 2 is such as to receive at least part of the working radiation 5 and is such as to transmit the focused working radiation 6 obtained by focusing the working radiation 5 in the focus of the lens 2; for example, Figure 1 shows that the working radiation 5 converges in the focus F0 placed on the workpiece 3.
Furthermore, the lens 2 is such as to receive at least part of the first measurement radiation 12, is such as to be traversed by the second measurement radiation 16 (indicated in Figure 1 with a dashed line) generated by the first measurement radiation 12 and is such as to transmit the third measuring radiation 13 generated by the second measuring radiation 16.
Furthermore, the lens 2 is such as to receive at least part of the reflected measurement radiation 14, is such as to be traversed by the first inverse measurement radiation 17 (indicated in Figure 1 with a dashed line) generated by the reflected measurement radiation 14 and is such as to transmit the second inverse measuring radiation 15 generated by the first inverse measuring radiation 17.
It should be noted that the second measurement radiation 16 is such as to be affected by a change in its wavelength following a change in the refractive index of the portion 8 of the lens 2 caused by a change in the temperature of the portion 8 of the lens 2 during the machining of the surface 30 of the workpiece 3: said wavelength variation of the second measurement radiation 16 is due to a modulation of the optical power of the third measurement radiation 13, of the reflected measurement radiation 14, of the first inverse measuring radiation 17, the second inverse measuring radiation 15 and the first measuring radiation 12.
It should be observed that also the first inverse measurement radiation 17 is such as to be affected by a variation of its wavelength following a variation of the refractive index of the portion 8 of the lens 2 caused by a variation of the temperature of the portion 8 of the lens 2 during the processing of the surface 30 of the workpiece 3: said wavelength variation of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 is due to a modulation of the optical power of the second inverse measurement radiation 15, of the first measurement radiation 12, the third measurement radiation 13 and the reflected measurement radiation 14.
It should be observed that the portion 8 of the lens 2 is such as to be crossed by at least part of the working radiation 5, and by at least part of the second measurement radiation 16 (and, preferably, also by at least part of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 ). This allows to accurately estimate the variation of the nominal focal distance f0 of the lens 2, because the variation of the temperature of the portion 8 (following the not negligible variation of the power of the working radiation 5 incident on it) determines more the variation of the distance. focal length of the lens 2 (for example, for a lens with a focal length of 127 mm it is possible to measure its variations with an accuracy of about 12 µm); moreover, it allows to measure the variation of the nominal focal distance f0 even during a thermal transient of the lens 2, because the measurement of the variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the lens 2 is also carried out during the machining process of the workpiece 3 by of the working laser 1.
The measurement module 20 has the function of measuring the variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the portion 8 of the lens 2 with respect to an initial value n0, as a function of the variation ∆λ of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 , or as a function of the variation ∆λ of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
La variazione ∆n dell’indice di rifrazione n della lente 2 è misurato con la seguente formula (1): The measurement module 20 is such as to receive the wavelength variation signal S∆λ indicative of the variation ∆λ of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and / or of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 and, as a function of this is such as to generate a signal S∆n indicative of a measure of the variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the lens 2. The variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the lens 2 is measured with the following formula (1) :
∆n= -n0/(1+λ0/∆λ) (1) ∆n = -n0 / (1 + λ0 / ∆λ) (1)
in cui λ0è il valore della lunghezza d’onda iniziale della seconda radiazione di misurazione 16 e della prima radiazione di misurazione inversa 17, n0è il valore iniziale dell’indice di rifrazione della porzione 8 della lente 2 e ∆λ è la variazione della lunghezza d’onda della seconda radiazione di misurazione 16 e della prima radiazione di misurazione inversa 17. where λ0 is the value of the initial wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17, n0 is the initial value of the refractive index of the portion 8 of the lens 2 and ∆λ is the variation of the length d wave of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
It should be noted that the variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the lens 2 can also be measured as a function of other optical properties of the second measurement radiation 16 and / or of the first inverse measurement radiation 17, such as optical power.
In particolare, la variazione ∆f è stimata con la seguente formula (2): Advantageously, the measurement module 20 is such as to also generate a signal S∆f indicative of an estimate of the variation ∆f with respect to the nominal focal distance f0 of the lens 2, as a function of the measurement of the variation ∆n of the refractive index n of the lens 2 In particular, the variation ∆f is estimated with the following formula (2):
∆f= f0*∆n/(n0-1) (2) ∆f = f0 * ∆n / (n0-1) (2)
It should be noted that Figure 1 shows that the reflected measurement radiation 14 is such as to pass through the lens 2 generating the first inverse measurement radiation 17, from which the second inverse measurement radiation 15 is generated, which is received at least in part by the source laser (within the laser measurement module 10 or separate) of the first measurement radiation 12 and is received at least in part by the optical sensor (within the laser measurement module 10 or separate); more generally, the invention is also applicable to the case in which the reflected measurement radiation 14 is such as not to pass through the lens 2 and is such as to be received directly at least in part by the laser source (inside the laser measurement module 10 or separate) of the first measurement radiation 12 and such as to be received directly at least in part by the optical sensor (inside the laser measurement module 10 together with the laser source or separate from it).
Note that in Figure 1 for simplicity the first measurement radiation 12, the second measurement radiation 16, the third measurement radiation 13, the reflected measurement radiation 14, the first inverse measurement radiation 17 and the second inverse measurement radiation 15 have been indicated with only one beam, but these radiations can be formed by a beam.
Preferably, the rays of the first radiation 5 are inclined with respect to the rays of the first measuring radiation 12 by an angle α comprised between 0 degrees and 90 degrees. Therefore in the hypothesis in which the value of the angle α is equal to about 90 degrees, the rays of the first measurement radiation 12 are substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens 2; this has the advantage of minimizing the space occupation of the system 50, because it is possible to bring the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement target 11 closer to the lens 2 without interrupting the working radiation 5 and the focused working radiation 6.
The operation of the measurement system 50 will now be described, also referring to Figure 1.
It is assumed that at the initial instant t0 the measurement module 20 is configured so that it has memorized the initial value λ0 (equal for example to 1.3 µm) of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and has memorized the initial value n0 of the refractive index of the lens 2, corresponding to the nominal focal distance f0 (of the lens 2) in which the focus F is substantially positioned on the surface 30 of the workpiece 3.
At the instant t1 (greater than t0) the working laser source 1 generates the working radiation 5 having a power P0.
At the instant t2 (greater than t1) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the working radiation 5 and transmits the focused working radiation 6 towards the workpiece 3: in particular, the lens 2 has the focus F0 substantially positioned on the surface 30 of the workpiece 3 and therefore the focused working radiation 6 converges with the maximum power in the focus F0 which coincides with the machining point of the surface 30.
At the instant t3 (greater than t2) the laser source of the laser measurement module 10 transmits the first measurement radiation 12 to the lens 2.
At the instant t4 (greater than t3) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the first measurement radiation 12 and, as a function of this, generates the second measurement radiation 16 which passes through the portion 8 of the lens 2, in which the length d The wave of the second measurement radiation 16 has the initial value λ0.
At the instant t5 (greater than t4) the lens 2 transmits the third measurement radiation 13 generated by the second measurement radiation 16.
At the instant t6 (greater than t5) the measurement target 11 receives at least a part of the second measurement radiation 13 and reflects it (at least in part) generating the reflected measurement radiation 14.
At the instant t7 (greater than t6) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the reflected measurement radiation 14 and, as a function of this, generates the first inverse measurement radiation 17 which passes through the portion 8 of the lens 2.
At the instant t8 (greater than t7) lens 2 transmits the second inverse measurement radiation 15 generated by the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
At the instant t9 (greater than t8) the optical sensor of the laser measurement module 10 detects at least a part of the second inverse measurement radiation 15 and generates the wavelength variation signal S∆λ having a substantially null value indicative of the fact that the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 did not undergo any variation with respect to the initial value λ0.
At the instant t10 (greater than t9) the measurement module 20 receives from the optical sensor of the laser measurement module 10 the signal S∆λ having the substantially null value, it measures the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 on the basis to formula (1) and generates the measurement signal of the refractive index variation S∆navente a substantially null value indicative of the fact that there has been no variation of the refractive index of the lens 1 with respect to the initial value n0.
Advantageously, at the instant t10 the measurement module 20 makes an estimate of the variation of the focal distance of the lens 2 on the basis of formula (2) and also generates the estimate signal of the variation of the focal distance S∆f having a substantially null value indicative of the fact that there was no substantial change in the focal distance of lens 2 from the nominal value f0.
It should be noted that the time instants from t0 to t10 have been introduced in order to explain the invention, but in reality the time interval between t0 and t10 can last a few milliseconds.
At the instant t11 (greater than t10) the working laser source 1 generates the working radiation 5 having a power P1 greater than P0, which causes a high variation of the temperature (for example, a variation of 50 ° C) of the portion 8 of the lens 2 and therefore the refractive index n of the portion 8 of the lens 2 is affected by a non-negligible variation ∆n1, which causes a non-negligible variation of the nominal focal distance f0 of the lens 2: for example the focus F0 moves to the position F1 which does not coincide with the surface 30 of the workpiece 3, but is located outside the surface 30 of the workpiece 3, as shown schematically in Figure 1.
At the instant t12 (greater than t11) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the working radiation 5 and transmits the focused working radiation 6 towards the workpiece 3: in particular, the focused working radiation 6 converges in the externally positioned focus F1 to the surface 30 of the workpiece 3.
At the instant t13 (greater than t12) the laser source of the laser measurement module 10 transmits the first measurement radiation 12 to the lens 2.
At the instant t14 (greater than t13) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the first measurement radiation 12 and, as a function of this, generates the second measurement radiation 16 which passes through the portion 8 of the lens 2, in which the length d The wave of the second measurement radiation 16 has a variation ∆λ1 (with respect to the initial value λ0) caused by the variation of the temperature of the portion 8 of the lens 2.
At the instant t15 (greater than t14) the lens 2 transmits the third measurement radiation 13 generated by the second measurement radiation 16.
At the instant t16 (greater than t15) the measurement target 11 receives at least a part of the second measurement radiation 13 and reflects it (at least in part) generating the reflected measurement radiation 14.
At the instant t17 (greater than t16) the lens 2 receives at least a part of the reflected measurement radiation 14 and, as a function of this, generates the first inverse measurement radiation 17 which passes through the portion 8 of the lens 2, in which the wavelength of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 has the variation ∆λ1 (with respect to the initial value λ0) caused by the variation of the temperature of the lens 8.
At the instant t18 (greater than t19) the lens 2 transmits the second inverse measurement radiation 15 generated by the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
At the instant t19 (greater than t18) the optical sensor of the laser measurement module 10 detects at least a part of the second inverse measurement radiation 15 and generates the signal S∆λ having a value ∆λ1 indicative of a variation ∆λ1 with respect to the initial value λ0 of the length waveform of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17.
At the instant t20 (greater than t19) the measurement module 20 receives from the optical sensor of the laser measurement module 10 the signal S∆λ having the value ∆λ1, it measures ∆n1 of the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 in based on formula (1) and generates the measurement signal of the variation of the refractive index S∆navente a value ∆n1 indicative of a variation ∆n1 of the refractive index of the lens 1 with respect to the initial value n0.
Advantageously, at the instant t21 the measurement module 20 makes an estimate of the variation of the focal distance of the lens 2 on the basis of formula (2) and also generates the estimate signal of the focal distance variation S∆f having a value equal to ∆f1 indicative of a variation of the focal distance of the lens 2 from the nominal value f0 to the value (f0 + ∆f1) corresponding to the focus F1.
It should be noted that the time instants from t11 to t21 have been introduced in order to explain the invention, but in reality the time interval between t11 and t21 can last a few milliseconds.
With reference to Figure 2, a system 60 is shown for measuring the variation of the refractive index of a lens 2 according to a second embodiment of the invention.
It should be noted that blocks and signals with the same or similar function are indicated in system 60 with the same references as in system 50.
Il sistema 60 comprende ulteriormente: System 60 further includes:
- un modulo di misurazione laser di ridondanza 40 avente la stessa funzione del modulo di misurazione laser 10, in cui il modulo di misurazione laser di ridondanza 40 è collegato in modo solidale al modulo di misurazione laser 10 per mezzo di un collegamento rigido 43 in modo che uno spostamento del modulo di misurazione laser 10 sia causa un uguale spostamento del modulo di misurazione laser di ridondanza 40; - a laser redundancy measurement module 40 having the same function as the laser measurement module 10, in which the laser redundancy measurement module 40 is integrally connected to the laser measurement module 10 by means of a rigid connection 43 so that a displacement of the laser measurement module 10 causes an equal displacement of the redundancy laser measurement module 40;
- a redundancy measurement target 41 having the same function as the measurement target 11, in which the redundancy measurement target 41 is integrally connected to the measurement target 11 by means of a rigid connection 42 so that a displacement of the measuring objective 11 causes an equal displacement of the measuring objective 41.
The redundancy laser source of the redundancy laser measurement module 40 is such as to transmit a redundancy measurement radiation 45; furthermore, in the case of a self-interference redundancy laser source it is such as to receive at least part of a reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46 generated by the reflection of at least part of the redundancy measurement radiation 45 on the measurement target of redundancy 41.
The optical redundancy sensor of the laser redundancy measurement module 40 is such as to detect at least part of the redundancy measurement radiation 45 or the reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46 and, depending on the detected radiation, is such as to generate a signal S '∆λ indicative of a spurious variation ∆λ' of the wavelength of the redundancy measuring radiation 45 and / or of the reflected redundancy measuring radiation 46; in particular, said spurious variation ∆λ 'of the wavelength is caused by a relative shift between the laser redundancy measurement module 40 and the redundancy measurement target 41 following an equal relative shift between the measurement module laser 10 and the measurement objective 11, which generates a variation of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17 of a value equal to the spurious variation ∆λ 'of the wavelength.
The measurement module 20 is such as to receive the signal variation of the wavelength S∆λ and the spurious variation signal of the wavelength S'∆λe, as a function of these, is such as to generate the signal S∆nmeasure of the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2.
The measurement system 60 has the advantage, with respect to the system 50, of minimizing possible errors in the measurement of the refractive index of the lens 2 (and therefore of minimizing the estimation error of the variation of the focal distance f0), in which said errors can be caused by relative displacements between the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement objective 11 along the direction of the first measurement radiation 12 and of the second inverse measurement radiation 15. In fact, said displacements cause optical power modulations identical to those generated by spurious variations of the wavelength of the second measurement radiation 16 and of the first inverse measurement radiation 17, thus generating a signal with power modulations that contain spurious components, which worsen the measurement of the refractive index variation.
The operation of the measurement system 60 is similar to that of the measurement system 50, with the following differences.
The laser redundancy source of the laser redundancy measurement module 40 transmits the redundancy measurement radiation 45.
Subsequently, the redundancy measurement target 41 receives the redundancy measurement radiation 45 and reflects it (at least in part) generating the reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46.
Thereafter, the optical redundancy sensor of the laser redundancy measurement module 40 detects at least a part of the reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46 and generates the spurious wavelength variation signal S'∆λ having a substantially null value indicative of the fact that there were no relative shifts between the laser redundancy measurement module 40 and the redundancy measurement target 41; consequently, there were no relative displacements between the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement target 11.
The measurement module 20 receives the signal spurious variation of the wavelength S'∆λ having a substantially null value and therefore detects that there have been no relative displacements between the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement objective 11: the module measuring device 20 measures the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 in the same way as explained for the first embodiment of the invention.
In the event of a relative shift between the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement target 11, an equal relative shift occurs between the laser redundancy measurement module 40 and the redundancy measurement target 41.
In this case, the redundancy laser source of the redundancy laser measurement module 40 transmits the redundancy measurement radiation 45.
Subsequently, the redundancy measurement target 41 receives the redundancy measurement radiation 45 and reflects it (at least in part) generating the reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46.
Subsequently, the optical redundancy sensor of the laser measurement module 40 detects at least a part of the reflected redundancy measurement radiation 46 and generates the signal spurious variation of the wavelength S'∆λ having the value ∆λ 'indicative of the fact that c there was a relative shift between the laser redundancy measurement module 40 and the redundancy measurement target 41; consequently, there was a relative shift of equal value between the laser measurement module 10 and the measurement target 11.
The measuring module 20 receives the signal spurious variation of the wavelength S'∆λ having the value ∆λ 'and therefore detects that there has been a relative shift between the laser measuring module 10 and the measuring target 11: the measurement module 20 measures the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 taking into account both the signal variation of the wavelength S∆λ and the spurious variation signal of the wavelength S'∆λ having the value ∆λ '. In particular, when the laser measurement module 10 generates the signal variation of the wavelength S∆λ equal to ∆λ (following a variation of the temperature of the portion 8 of the lens 2, as explained above for the first realization of the invention), the value ∆λ 'is subtracted from the value ∆λ in order to eliminate the spurious variation ∆λ' of the wavelength: in this way the measurement module 20 generates the measurement of the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2 taking into account only the variation of the wavelength caused by the variation of the refractive index n of the lens 2.
Advantageously, the measuring system 50 (or 60) further comprises a controller and a movement device (not shown in the figures) having the function of compensating for the variation ∆f of the nominal focal distance f0 of the lens 2. With reference to the time steps of operation described above, this compensation is carried out at an instant t22 (subsequent to the instant t21).
The controller is such as to receive the estimate signal S∆f indicative of an estimate of the variation ∆f with respect to the nominal focal distance f0 of the lens 2 and, as a function of this, it is such as to generate a control signal to perform the compensation according to the following solutions.
According to a first compensation solution, the movement device of the system 50 (or 60) is such as to allow the movement of the system 50 (or 60) along an axis in the direction of the working radiation 5. The controller receives the signal of estimation S∆fe, as a function of this, generates the control signal to effect the movement of the system 50 (or 60) along the axis in the direction of the working radiation 5 in order to correct the position of the focus. In the example considered of shifting the focus from F0 to F1, this is achieved by moving the system 50 (or 60) along the axis in the direction of the working radiation 5 in order to move the focus from the position of the focus F1 to the position of the focus F0.
According to a second compensation solution, the system 50 (or 60) further comprises an actuation system of the lens 2 having the function of effecting a shift of the lens 2. The controller receives the estimation signal S∆fe, as a function of this generates the control signal, which is received by the actuation system of the lens 2: the actuation system carries out, as a function of the control signal, the displacement of the lens 2 in the direction of the working radiation 5 so as to correct the position of fire. In the example considered of shifting the focus from F0 to F1, this is achieved by moving the lens 2 in order to move the focus from the focus position F1 to the focus position F0.
According to a third compensation solution, the measuring system 50 (or 60) further comprises an actuation device for effecting the displacement of the surface 30 of the workpiece 3. The controller receives the estimation signal S∆fe, in operation of this, it generates the control signal which is received by the actuation device, which moves the surface 30 of the workpiece 3 to the nominal working position along the direction of the working radiation 5. In the example considered, the displacement of the focus from F0 to F1, this is achieved by moving the surface point 30 of the workpiece 3 from the focus position F0 to the focus position F1.
