Abstract

1399532 Hinges FERMOD 13 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971] 47262/72 Heading E2F A hinge suitable for welding to the rear pillar of a lorry, comprises a hinge pin 3 mounted on a support 1 and a hinge part 8 rotatably mounted on the pin, wherein the support 1 comprises at least one substantially 8-shaped metal member defining two adjacent portions, one portion 2 for carrying the pin and the other 4 for fixing the member to a door pillar, the portion 4 having a cross-section substantially in the shape of a triangle two corners of which are rounded. The support 1 may be in the form of a folded strip, or alternately, may be a section member cut to the required length. The hinge-pin supporting portion 2 may be provided with a lubricating bush (32), Fig 4 (not shown), and the hinge is capable of being dismantled by the removal of a nut (15), Fig 1 (not shown), secured at the end of the hinge pin 3. In an alternative embodiment, Figure 3 (not shown), the hinge is of the knuckle type and possesses two 8-shaped members (21) for welding to the door pillar.
