DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a device for covering box-type packaging for fruit and vegetable products.

Nowadays, fruit and vegetables in boxes are usually protected at the top by means of covering devices of various types, generally consisting of rigid or soft covers usually provided with folded edges adapted to be positioned externally to the edges of the box and possibly fixed thereto by seaming.

Among the various types of covers, some are made of transparent plastic material, others in cardboard and therefore opaque, still others in plastic mesh, etc.

The aim of the present invention is to provide a new device for covering box packagings for fruit and vegetable products which is easy to manufacture and low cost.

A consequent primary object is to provide a covering device with a transparent upper part so as not to block the fruit contained in the box from view.

Yet another object is to provide a covering device which is easy to apply.

Another object is to provide a covering device whose presence does not prevent or limit the transpiration of the fruit.

These and other objects, which will appear more clearly later on, are achieved by a device for covering box packaging for fruit and vegetable products characterized in that it comprises a rectangular sheet of soft plastic material, preferably transparent, fixed to the edges of two of its opposite sides with corresponding longitudinal bands in rigid, paper and / or plastic material.

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become clearer from the detailed description of an embodiment thereof illustrated by way of example, but not of limitation, in the attached drawing table in which: fig. 1 shows a box package equipped with the covering device in question;

fig. 2 is a drawing showing the covering device in the phase of binding to the packaging;

fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the package of fig. 1 with covering device;

fig. 4 is a detail in enlarged section of the covering device in question;

fig. 5 represents a variant of the detail of figure 4.

With reference to the aforementioned figures, a box-shaped cardboard packaging is indicated by the reference number 1 and in practice consists of a flat container open at the top and equipped on the minor sides with gripping handles 2 made by blanking.

Said packaging 1 is made by blanking, folding and gluing the cardboard and has internal flaps 3 in the corner areas which develop from the shorter walls 4 and are glued and / or crimped to the longer walls 5.

Inside the package there is a thermoplastic tray 6 on which the seats 7 for the fruit are obtained.

Said packaging 1 is conveniently covered with a device according to the invention composed of a rectangular sheet 8 of soft plastic material, preferably transparent, the dimensions of which are substantially equal to the area between the walls.

Said sheet 8, preferably made for example of polythene, in correspondence with the areas of the longer walls 4 comprised between the fins 3 has edges 9 which, as illustrated in Figure 4, are longitudinally heat-sealed to corresponding bands 10 in rigid cardboard with an external surface 11 polythene.

Said bands 10 are able to be inserted in the spaces included between the edges of the tray 6 and the longer walls 4, keeping the sheet 8 stretched over the fruit.

To facilitate insertion, said bands 10 are preferably provided with bevels 10a, as can be seen in fig. 2.

In a variant embodiment illustrated in Figure 5 the said edges of the sheet 8, now indicated with 9a, can be elongated, such as to wrap the respective bands in rigid cardboard 10a and be glued at the ends directly onto the sheet 8.

The said edges 9 and 9a are shorter than the sheet 8 so that for their realization it is necessary to carry out angular punching on this sheet.

In another embodiment variant the sheet 8 can be made for example of polypropylene and the bands 10 of rigid PVC.

Furthermore, heat sealing can be replaced by gluing or seaming.

In practice it has thus been found that the covering device in question has achieved the intended aim and objects, being able to fasten itself stably in a simple and rapid way to the packaging without the aid of seaming or other, while remaining taut on the fruit. and therefore able to present it at its best.

Furthermore, the covering device in question does not in any way preclude transpiration of the fruit.

Finally, it is achievable in a simple and low-cost way.

In practice, the materials employed, so long as they are compatible with the contingent use, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to requirements.

CLAIMS 1) Device for covering box packaging for fruit and vegetables characterized by the fact of comprising a rectangular sheet in soft plastic material, preferably transparent, fixed to the edges of two opposite sides with corresponding longitudinal bands in rigid paper and / or plastic material . 2) Device as per claim 1, characterized by the fact that said bands in rigid material are of such stiffness that they can be inserted in the spaces between the products and / or trays that may contain them, and the internal walls of the packaging and maintain weaving said sheet of soft material. 3) Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it has respective edges at its longer sides for fixing to said corresponding bands of rigid material. 4) Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said fixing between the rectangular sheet of soft plastic material and the bands of rigid material is carried out by gluing, heat sealing, seaming or the like. 5) Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said soft rectangular sheet is made of polythene or equivalent material and the corresponding strips of cardboard with a polythene or equivalent surface, strips and sheet being associated by heat sealing of the polythene or equivalent. 6) Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said bands of rigid material are wrapped by the corresponding edges of said rectangular sheet of soft plastic material, the ends of said edges being fixed directly on said sheet. 7) Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said rectangular sheet in soft plastic material is made of polypropylene and the bands in rigid PVC. 8 <)> Device as claimed in one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the said bands are positioned in correspondence with the longer sides of the said rectangular sheet and extend in the median area of these being shorter than them. 9) Device for covering box-type packaging for fruit and vegetable products as per one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by the fact that said bands in rigid material have bevels designed to facilitate their introduction into the spaces between the products, and / or trays that eventually contain them, and the inner walls of the packaging. 10) Device for covering box packagings for fruit and vegetable products as per one or more of the preceding claims which is characterized by what is described and illustrated in the attached table of drawings.
