In diversi settori, in particolare nel settore dell’abbigliamento, dell’arredamento e dei relativi complementi, è costante la ricerca di nuovi materiali, che abbiano non solo idonee caratteristiche tecnico-funzionali ed estetiche, ma tengano anche in debita considerazione la crescente attenzione per le tematiche ecologiche ed ambientali. In particolare, per sostituire materiali in pelliccia, sono noti materiali sintetici, la cui produzione pone però diversi problemi di impatto ambientale in fase di produzione, oltre che di smaltimento a fine vita del prodotto.
