DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
Descrizione dell’INVENZIONE INDUSTRIALE dal titolo: Description of the INDUSTRIAL INVENTION entitled:
“Prodotto fissativo di tannini, resine sintetiche e coloranti a pelli animali durante una riconcia delle stesse” "Fixative product of tannins, synthetic resins and dyes to animal skins during their retanning"
Campo di applicazione dell’invenzione Field of application of the invention
The present invention finds application in the field of the art concerning the processing of animal skins.
As is known, animal skins have been used since ancient times for the creation of various objects including articles of clothing, footwear, bags and saddlery items. However, the skins cannot be used as removed from animals as, being organic material, they would tend to putrefy. To prevent this, the hides are subjected to a tanning process which involves impregnating them with appropriate chemical substances (called "tanning agents") which are irreversibly fixed to the collagen fibers in order to make the leather rot-proof. The material obtained at the end of the tanning process is leather. The tanning agents are different depending on the type of leather to be obtained and among the most common are the basic chromium sulphate, used in chrome tanning, and the tannins, generally used in vegetable tanning. In particular, in chromium tanning it is chromium III that determines the cross-linking of the collagen of the hides by binding to itself the carboxylic groups of different peptide chains. The leather thus obtained can be used, for example, for making uppers. Vegetable tanning is instead mainly used for the production of sole leather.
Although leather can be obtained in different ways depending on the type of raw leather and the type of product to be made, it is possible to identify some macro phases common to the various types of the transformation process of an animal skin into leather.
The first macro phase consists in the production of the raw hide. This phase begins with the slaughter and skinning of the animal, and ends with the carrying out of a conservation treatment which usually involves salt dehydration of the skin obtained by skinning.
Tra i lavori di riviera si annoverano: The second macro phase consists in removing unnecessary parts from the raw skin. During this phase, the leather is subjected to a series of chemical and mechanical operations known as “riviera works” which convert the raw leather into “pelt into tripe”. The works on the Riviera include:
• il rinverdimento, cioè la lavatura della pelle dalla sporcizia e dal sale usato nella conservazione della stessa. Questa operazione serve inoltre a far assorbire alla pelle l’acqua persa a seguito del sopra citato trattamento di conservazione; • soaking, ie washing the skin of dirt and salt used in its conservation. This operation also serves to make the skin absorb the water lost following the aforementioned conservation treatment;
• la depilazione ed il calcinaio, che sono operazioni effettuate contemporaneamente per eliminare il pelo e l’epidermide, allentare e rilassare il tessuto dermico ed asportare una parte dello strato adiposo; • hair removal and liming, which are operations carried out simultaneously to remove the hair and the epidermis, loosen and relax the dermal tissue and remove a part of the adipose layer;
• la scarnatura, cioè l’asportazione dei residui di carne e del tessuto adiposo dello strato sottocutaneo del derma; • fleshing, that is, the removal of residues of meat and adipose tissue from the subcutaneous layer of the dermis;
• the split, ie the sectioning of the leather into two parts along the thickness in order to separate the grain (ie the outermost layer of the leather, with the epidermis) from the crust (ie the innermost layer of the leather, without the epidermis ).
The third macro phase consists in immersing the skin in a large container (generally cylindrical) known as a "drum", which is rotated around two horizontal pins to perform the following operations:
• la decalcinazione, per rimuovere gran parte della calce usata nel processo di depilazione; • deliming, to remove most of the lime used in the hair removal process;
• la macerazione, per purgare la pelle, eliminare i prodotti di degradazione delle cheratine (nonché i residui di follicolo e di epidermide), produrre un allentamento del tessuto dermico, e rendere il fiore liscio, pulito ed elastico; • maceration, to purge the skin, eliminate keratin degradation products (as well as follicle and epidermal residues), loosen the dermal tissue, and make the grain smooth, clean and elastic;
• lo sgrassaggio, eventualmente eseguito su pelli che contengono un eccesso di sostanze grasse allo scopo sia di eliminare gran parte di queste ultime, sia di distribuire più uniformemente le sostanze grasse rimanenti; • degreasing, possibly performed on leathers that contain an excess of fatty substances in order to eliminate most of the latter and to distribute the remaining fatty substances more evenly;
• il piclaggio, per eliminare i residui di calce eventualmente rimasti nella pelle e permettere un attraversamento più veloce delle sostanze concianti; • pickling, to eliminate any lime residues left in the leather and allow a faster crossing of the tanning substances;
• la concia propriamente detta, per l’impregnazione delle pelli con gli agenti concianti, ossia sostanze che si fissano irreversibilmente alla pelle impedendone la putrefazione senza alterarne la morbidezza, la flessibilità e la struttura fibrosa originaria. La pelle che si ottiene al termine di questa operazione viene solitamente definita “wet-blue”; • tanning proper, for the impregnation of leathers with tanning agents, ie substances that are irreversibly fixed to the leather, preventing it from rotting without altering its softness, flexibility and original fibrous structure. The leather obtained at the end of this operation is usually defined as “wet-blue”;
• squeezing, to remove excess water from the wet-blue.
La pelle rasata viene quindi immersa nuovamente in un bottale per l’esecuzione delle seguenti operazioni: The fourth and last macro phase consists in the retanning of the squeezed leather in order to transform it from wet-blue into “crust”, ie dry leather ready to be eventually finished. Preliminarily to this transformation, the skin is subjected to shaving, to uniform its thickness. The shaved skin is then immersed again in a drum for the following operations:
• la disacida o neutralizzazione, per innalzare il pH della pelle ad un valore ottimale in vista delle successive lavorazioni; • the deacidification or neutralization, to raise the pH of the skin to an optimal value in view of subsequent processing;
• la riconcia propriamente detta e la contestuale o successiva tintura, con l’aggiunta di tannini vegetali e/o sintetici, resine sintetiche e coloranti; • retanning proper and contextual or subsequent dyeing, with the addition of vegetable and / or synthetic tannins, synthetic resins and dyes;
• l’ingrasso, per lubrificare la pelle. • fattening, to lubricate the skin.
Once greased, the leather is removed from the drum and left to rest for a few hours to allow the completion of the fixing of the substances with which the leather has been treated. After the rest period, the skin is subjected to drying to remove most of the water absorbed by it during this last macro phase.
Among the four macro phases illustrated above, the present invention concerns, in particular, the fourth macro phase, ie the retanning of the leather. More precisely, the invention refers to a product to be added to the drum during the macro phase of retanning to facilitate the fixing of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes to animal skins. For the sake of convenience, in the following of this description the expression "fixative product" will mean a product of the aforementioned type, ie a product which, when placed in the drum, facilitates the attachment to an animal skin of one or more substances such as, for for example, tannins, synthetic resins and dyes.
The present invention also refers to a retanning method which involves the use of the aforementioned product.
Rassegna dell’arte nota Review of the known art
As mentioned above, the retanning of animal hides takes place by placing the shaved leather in a drum to subject it to deacidification, retanning proper with contextual or subsequent dyeing, and fattening. During this phase, the shaved skin is immersed in a solution comprising water, vegetable and / or synthetic tannins, synthetic resins and dyes. Formic acid is also added to the water in order to allow the fixing of the aforementioned substances to the skin. The aqueous solution is maintained at a temperature usually comprised between 30 ° C and 50 ° C, and the skin remains immersed in said solution for a period of time usually comprised between four and six hours. During this period the drum is made to rotate on itself in order to facilitate the mixing of the aqueous solution and the fixing to the skin of the tannins, resins and dyes.
Despite the presence of formic acid, only a fraction of the tannins, resins and dyes present in the drum can stick to the leather during retanning. To impregnate the leather with an appropriate quantity of tannins, resins and dyes, these substances must therefore be used in very high concentrations, i.e. in concentrations significantly higher than those which would be sufficient if all the tannins, resins and dyes present in the drum were fixed. to the skin. This not only involves a considerable waste of materials, but also has serious consequences from an environmental point of view (as these are particularly polluting substances).
Scopi dell’invenzione Aims of the invention
The purpose of the present invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by indicating a product that can be placed in a drum during the retanning of animal skins to facilitate the attachment to the latter of the tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes present therein.

Altro oggetto d’invenzione è un metodo di riconcia di una pelle animale comprendente i seguenti passi: Another object of the invention is a method of retanning an animal skin comprising the following steps:
a) predisporre un bottale in cui è inseribile almeno una pelle animale; a) prepare a drum in which at least one animal skin can be inserted;
b) immettere in detto bottale: b) add in said drum:
• almeno una pelle animale rasata (ossia una pelle wet-blue dopo essere stata sottoposta a spremitura e rasatura); • at least one shaved animal skin (ie a wet-blue skin after being squeezed and shaved);
• acqua ad una temperatura non inferiore a 20 °C e in una quantità sufficiente a far sì che detta pelle sia immersa nell’acqua; • water at a temperature not lower than 20 ° C and in a quantity sufficient to ensure that said skin is immersed in water;
• tannini (vegetali e/o sintetici) e/o resine sintetiche e/o coloranti in modo tale per cui detti tannini e/o resine e/o coloranti si disperdano nell’acqua; • acido formico, • tannins (vegetable and / or synthetic) and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes in such a way that said tannins and / or resins and / or dyes are dispersed in the water; • formic acid,
detta pelle rimanendo immersa nell’acqua con detti tannini e/o resine sintetiche e/o coloranti per un periodo di tempo non inferiore a due ore, said skin remaining immersed in water with said tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes for a period of time not less than two hours,
in cui, secondo l’invenzione, al passo b) in detto bottale viene inoltre immesso il prodotto fissativo oggetto d’invenzione in modo tale per cui quest’ultimo si disperda nell’acqua, in which, according to the invention, in step b) the fixative product object of the invention is also introduced into said drum in such a way that the latter is dispersed in the water,
detto prodotto fissativo venendo immesso in detto bottale in una quantità, in peso, non inferiore allo 0,5 % del peso posseduto da detta pelle all’immissione della stessa in detto bottale (cioè non inferiore allo 0,5 % del peso della pelle rasata prima che la stessa venga immessa nel bottale), said fixative product being introduced into said drum in an amount, by weight, of not less than 0.5% of the weight possessed by said leather when it was introduced into said drum (i.e. not less than 0.5% of the weight of the shaved leather before it is put into the drum),
detta pelle rimanendo immersa nell’acqua con detto prodotto fissativo insieme a detti tannini e/o resine sintetiche e/o coloranti per un periodo di tempo non inferiore a cinque minuti. said skin remaining immersed in water with said fixative product together with said tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes for a period of time not less than five minutes.
In other words, according to the retanning method object of the invention, together with the tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes, the fixative product object of the invention must be added to the water present in the drum in a quantity, by weight. , not less than 0.5% of the weight of the shaved leather, i.e. of the weight of the leather that is fed into said drum. The skin must also remain immersed in water with the fixative product for at least five minutes so that the latter can act by facilitating the fixing of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes to the skin.
Advantageously, the retanning method object of the invention, compared to the known retanning method, allows to reduce the consumption of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes by about 10% by weight.
Further innovative features of the present product invention and of the present method invention are illustrated in the following description and recalled in the dependent claims.
Descrizione dettagliata di alcune forme preferite di realizzazione dell’invenzione Detailed description of some preferred embodiments of the invention
Detto prodotto fissativo comprende: The object of the present invention is a product that can be placed in a drum in which the retanning of an animal skin takes place in order to facilitate the fixing to said skin of the tannins (vegetable and / or synthetic) and / or of the synthetic resins and / or dyes. present in the drum. Said fixative product includes:
• Pentapotassio bis(perossimonosolfato) bis(solfato) in una percentuale in peso non inferiore al 70%; • Pentapotassium bis (peroximonosulfate) bis (sulphate) in a percentage by weight of not less than 70%;
• Perossidisolfato di potassio in una percentuale in peso non superiore al 20 %; • Potassium peroxidisulfate in a percentage by weight not exceeding 20%;
• Tetra [carbonate (2 -)] dihydroxypentamagnesium in a percentage by weight not exceeding 10%.
As mentioned above, by adding the aforesaid fixative product in a drum in which the retanning of an animal skin takes place, it is possible to reduce the consumption of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes by about 10% by weight.
Vantaggiosamente, il prodotto fissativo risulta essere ancora più efficace (ossia l’impiego di detto prodotto consente di ridurre ancor di più il consumo di tannini e/o resine sintetiche e/o coloranti rispetto alla riconcia nota) nel caso in cui esso comprenda: Advantageously, the fixative product is even more effective (i.e. the use of said product allows to further reduce the consumption of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes compared to the known retanning) if it includes:
• Pentapotassio bis(perossimonosolfato) bis(solfato) in una percentuale in peso compresa tra l’86 % ed il 96 %; • Pentapotassium bis (peroximonosulfate) bis (sulfate) in a percentage by weight between 86% and 96%;
• Perossidisolfato di potassio in una percentuale in peso compresa tra lo 0,1 % ed il 5 %; • Potassium peroxidisulfate in a weight percentage between 0.1% and 5%;
• Tetra [carbonate (2 -)] dihydroxypentamagnesium in a percentage by weight between 1% and 2%.
Another object of the invention is a method of retanning an animal skin which differs from the known macro phase of retanning previously mentioned by the fact that, in addition to the tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes, the aforementioned fixative product is added in an amount, by weight, of not less than 0.5% of the weight possessed by shaved skin (i.e. wet-blue skin after being squeezed and shaved) before it is fed into the drum. The addition of the fixative product preferably takes place at the end of the fattening operation. The skin must also remain immersed in water with the fixative product together with the tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes for at least five minutes so that the latter can act by facilitating the fixing of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or or dyes.
Più precisamente, il metodo oggetto d’invenzione comprende un primo passo consistente nel predisporre un bottale in cui è inseribile almeno una pelle animale. Il secondo passo di detto metodo prevede l’immissione nel bottale di: • almeno una pelle di animale; More precisely, the method object of the invention comprises a first step consisting in preparing a drum in which at least one animal skin can be inserted. The second step of this method involves placing in the drum of: • at least one animal skin;
• acqua ad una temperatura non inferiore a 20 °C (preferibilmente compresa tra 30 °C e 50 °C) e in una quantità sufficiente a far sì che detta pelle sia immersa nell’acqua; • water at a temperature not lower than 20 ° C (preferably between 30 ° C and 50 ° C) and in a quantity sufficient to ensure that said skin is immersed in water;
• tannini (vegetali e/o sintetici) e/o resine sintetiche e/o coloranti in modo tale per cui essi si disperdano nell’acqua; • tannins (vegetable and / or synthetic) and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes in such a way that they are dispersed in the water;
• acido formico. • formic acid.
The skin must remain immersed in water with tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes for a period of time not less than two hours, and preferably not less than four hours.
In addition, the aforementioned fixative product must be introduced into the drum in such a way that the latter is dispersed in the water.
As specified above, the fixative product must be introduced into said drum in an amount, by weight, of not less than 0.5% of the weight possessed by the shaved leather upon placing it in the drum. In other words, it is necessary to weigh the shaved skin before it is placed in the drum and, depending on the weight of the skin, dose the fixative product. Preferably, the amount of fixative product that is introduced into the drum is, by weight, not more than 5% of the weight possessed by the shaved leather when it is introduced into the drum. In fact, said upper limit defines a sufficient amount of fixative product so that the latter can act by facilitating the fixing of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes. More preferably, the amount of fixative product that is introduced into the drum is, by weight, between 1% and 2% of the weight possessed by the shaved leather upon placing it in the drum. The skin must remain immersed in water with the fixative product (together with tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes) for a period of time of not less than five minutes. Preferably, the skin is kept immersed in water with the fixative product for a period of time between ten minutes and thirty minutes. Thirty minutes are in fact sufficient for the fixative product to act by facilitating the fixing of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes.
Preferably, the fixative product is placed in the drum after the leather has been immersed in the water with the tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes for a period of time between four hours and six hours. In this case, the effectiveness of the action performed by the fixative product is maximum.
The retanning method object of the invention, compared to the known retanning method, allows to reduce the consumption of tannins and / or synthetic resins and / or dyes by about 10% by weight.
Based on the description provided for a preferred embodiment example, it is obvious that some changes can be introduced by the person skilled in the art without thereby departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the following claims.
