Abstract
The quench gasifier has a combustion chamber for partially oxidizing carbon in the feedstocks and a quench chamber adjacent to the combustion chamber. A quench chamber has a throat region for directing gases from combustion chamber to the quench chamber. The throat has an inlet adjacent to the combustion chamber and an outlet adjacent to the quench chamber such that the inlet diameter is greater than the outlet diameter. An electrical resistor is present between the inner and outer surfaces between the inlet and outlet.
