Abstract

A preassemblable traction and suspension unit for motor vehicles comprises a supporting cross-member preferably comprising an extruded aluminium alloy section which is fixed at its ends to the load-bearing structure of the motor vehicle by means of mechanical connections. Two longitudinal arms 8 bearing wheel supports 12 are connected to the supporting cross-member. In addition to this, a propelling engine unit 13 is cantilevered on said transverse member 5a by means of a supporting beam 17 which is also bolted to cross-member 5a. Finally the preassemblable unit includes a pair of suspension members 18 placed between the two longitudinal arms and the two corresponding attachments 22 also fixed to the cross- member respectively. The entire unit can be fitted and dismantled simply and quickly. <IMAGE>
