Abstract
Compsn. comprises a protein (I) solubilised in reverse micelles of a lipid (II) in a solvent (III) having a head gp. with affinity for (I). Also claimed are: (1) uniform thin films (UTF) comprising a layer of (I) sandwiched between layers of (II); (2) UTF comprising monolayer of oriented (I) molecules on a solid substrate, (I) having ordered, close-packed arrangement due to recrystallisation after heat treatment; (3) UTF comprising a monolayer of (I) on a non-planar solid substrate particle; (4) appts. for making UTF of (3); and (5) uniform composite thin film (UCTF) comprising a complex of (II) and oriented (I) molecules, the head gp. of (II) being reactive with only one amino acid in (I) so that it is anchored to a specific position in the structure of each (I) molecule in the film.
