Abstract
Apparatus for motor vehicles and water craft, for seeing in absence of visibility, due to fog or rain. It generates a perfect image (in size and superpositioning) of the view in front of the vehicle, identical (except for colours) to that which the driver (with head placed on the headrest) would see if conditions were transparent. The device uses infrared television cameras (already on the market in limited extent) incorporated in the roof to display the front zone, illuminated by infrared lights placed in front of the vehicle. A computer on board receives the input from the television cameras and processes it to generate the image which is sent to the windshield, that is, to the liquid crystal screen (perfectly transparent when not turned on) that is entirely incorporated into it, thanks to its thin size. There are already in existence thin and transparent screens that can be incorporated into the windshield. Fog and water are known to be transparent to infrared.
