Abstract

Digital measurement process for alternating currents and voltages, for measuring the mean value of the positive half-wave of the unknown alternating signal Vin, using at least one capacitor C connected in parallel with the line of the input voltage Vin, the voltage level of the said capacitor C being compared continuously with a known reference voltage Vb in a second operational amplifier OP2, the output of the said second operational amplifier OP2 being connected to the access line m of a microprocessor mP, the said line m being set to 1 when the voltage across the capacitor is greater than Vb and being set to 0 when the voltage across the capacitor is less than Vb, the microprocessor mP acting, in the first case, so that the capacitor C is discharged for a fixed period Toff = Tc and, in the second case, so that the capacitor C is charged for a fixed period Ton = Toff = Tc, the value of the unknown voltage Vin being determinable from the number of Ton and Toff periods respectively which are present during the measurement period T = nTc. Device for implementation of the above measurement process, comprising two input lines which can be connected alternatively to the measurement circuit, one of the said input lines being connected to the unknown voltage Vin and the other to a known reference voltage Vc used for compensation of the parasitic values of the components, a first operational amplifier OP1 which cuts the negative half-wave of the alternating signal, a capacitor C connected to the input line, a comparator OP2 for comparing the voltage of the capacitor C with a reference voltage Vb, and a microprocessor which is connected to the output of the said comparator OP2 and which maintains the said voltage level Vb across the capacitor C. <IMAGE>
