Abstract
In an apparatus for electrostatic painting, the solid particles making up a powdered paint are maintained in suspension in air inside a container. Through a Venturi valve, the paint is admitted to a delivery pipe along with air supplied through the same valve. The delivery pipe goes to a gun having a dispensing nozzle through which the paint, together with the air, is projected onto a manufactured item. One or more electrically energised electrodes form an electric field of ionisation to electrostatically charge the paint particles and make them adhere to the manufactured item. By admitting to the delivery pipe at least one gas additive having electrical conductivity greater than that of air, one achieves an increase in the quantity of paint deposited on the item, in relation to the quantity of paint dispensed by the nozzle. <IMAGE>
