Abstract

A device for measuring the concentration of a chemical species especially in a fluid delivers a luminous measuring signal M and a luminous excitation signal E in the fluid; the luminous excitation signal E has a wavelength such as to produce an increase in the energy of the chemical species which causes an increase in the temperature of the fluid; with increasing fluid temperature the optical path of the luminous measuring signal M varies in relation to the concentration of the chemical species in the fluid; to detect the magnitude of this concentration the luminous measuring signal M is caused to interfere with a luminous reference signal R so as to produce an interference signal which depends on the change in the optical path of the luminous measuring signal M. <IMAGE>
