Abstract

The invention relates to a machine for recovering copper, particularly from scrap or from waste from the production of electrical cables, or similar, where the copper core is covered by a sheath of different material, particularly synthetic material such as plastic material, rubber, or similar. According to the invention, the machine comprises a device 2 which comminutes the electrical cables, which retain their outer sheaths, for the simultaneous comminution of the copper core and of the associated sheath, and at least one device 5, 6; 7; 36 for separating the sheath material and the copper from the mixture of copper particles and sheath material. The separating device 5, 6; 7; 36 carries out the separation on the basis of the physical characteristics of the sheath material and of the copper, such as their particle size and their specific weight. <IMAGE>
