Abstract
A method for extracting manganese from manganese-bearing mineral comprising a stage of oxidative/reductive leaching of the mineral in an acid environment through an aqueous solution which includes as a reducing agent a carbohydrate selected from the group comprising: monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, polysaccharides and their mixtures. This method permits substantially complete extraction of the manganese in a time of between 15 and 30 minutes. <IMAGE>
