Abstract
Continuous mercerising procedure suitable to carry out mercerising treatment on a plurality of threads unwinding uninterruptedly and one parallel to the other from one (12) or several (112, 212) feeding beams, said plurality of threads (11) being consecutively subjected to the following operative steps:- pre-wash by soaking in at least one tank (14), preferably three tanks (14), containing a bath composed of hot water and surface-active agents;- impregnation in sodium hydroxide by soaking in at least one tank (14), preferably two tanks (14), containing a bath of heated sodium hydroxide;- stabilization with control of thread (11) shrinkage in a stabilization and stretching chamber (23), in said chamber (23) the threads (11) being partially placed in contact with a sodium hydroxide bath;- stretching and drawing in said stabilization and stretching chamber (23), the threads (11) being still partially in contact with a sodium hydroxide bath;- neutralizing with hot washing, said neutralizing comprising a first washing phase by soaking in at least one tank (14), preferably two groups of tanks (14) each, containing a bath of hot water, a second true neutralizing phase by soaking in at least one tank (14), preferably two tanks (14), containing an acid bath, and a third rinsing phase by soaking in at least one tank (14), preferably three tanks (14), containing a bath of hot water;- drying in an oven (30) with hot air circulation;said threads (11), as they leave the dryer, being wound on to one or preferably several (54) collection beams.Continuous mercerising apparatus suitable to carry out mercerising treatment on a plurality of threads unwinding uninterruptedly and one parallel to the other from one (12) or several (112, 212) feeding beams, said apparatus adopting the above procedure, comprising the following operative units placed consecutively:- pre-wash unit (13) composed of at least one pre-wash tank (14), preferably three similar tanks (14) placed consecutively one after the other;- impregnation unit (21) composed of at least one impregnation tank (14), preferably two similar tanks (14) placed consecutively one after the other;- stabilization and stretching unit (22) composed of a stabilization and stretching chamber (23) provided with groups of upper (24) and lower (25) rollers controlling shrinkage and drawing of the threads;- washing unit (26) composed of at least one washing tank (14), preferably two groups each of two similar tanks (14) placed consecutively one after the other;- neutralizing unit (27) composed of at least one neutralizing tank (14), preferably two similar tanks (14) placed consecutively one after the other;- rinsing unit (28) composed of at least one rinsing tank (14), preferably three similar tanks (14) placed consecutively one after the other;- drying unit (29) composed of a hot air oven (30);- thread collection unit (11), composed preferably of a plurality of beams (54) containing submultiples of the number of threads contained in the feeder (12, 112, 212) of the apparatus (10).
