Abstract

The invention refers to a deadening device for pulsations in liquid flows, particularly applicable in paper manufacturing machines. The device basically consists of a vertical axis, cylindrical receiver; a flow input pipe; diffusers with increasing diameters towards the top within the receiver; an output pipe below the liquid level, above which, the receiver closure contains the deadened air. These diffusers have lower parts that are connected to a variable section pipe connected to the input pipe by constant sections. The variable section pipe is proportioned so that the flow speed in this pipe stays constant and equal to the speed in the input, constant section pipe and the diffusers' entrance, thus achieving uniform flow distribution in the diffusers.
