Abstract
This invention deals with obtaining two highly desirable products: aluminium polychloride and hydrogen according to the following reaction: Al<0> + H<+> +Cl<-> + SO<->4<-> -> Polychloride + H2 + Heat.The degree of alkalinity adequate for aluminium polychloride, which is a characteristic of this compound, is obtained by maintaining the reaction at a constant temperature at around 100 degrees C.From the reaction, one obtains a quantity of hydrogen, proportional to the concentration of Al<3+> in the compound, and not proportional to the concentration of HCL + H2SO4 used as reactants, where one obtains more hydrogen, the more acid one uses in the reaction.The invention is as described, whereas normally to obtain similar products, different routes are chosen, such as that of aluminium hydrate for the polychloride and hydrocarburic for the hydrogen.
