Abstract

This invention deals with an intermediate oven designated to be placed between one or more continuous smelting systems (C, C1, C2), for the production of thin slabs, and a successive lamination line (L). In order to reduce the bulkiness of the heating mechanisms and the transport mechanisms of the slabs (B, B1, B2), at the exit of the continuous smelting systems (C, C1, C2), the invention proposes the arrangement of the continuous smelting systems (C, C1, C2) with their longitudinal axes parallel among themselves, and with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lamination line (L), but transversely offset with respect to the latter. The intermediate oven is equipped with entrance openings (E, E1, E2), and with associated entrance tracks (PE, PE1, PE2), co-axial with respect to the continuous smelting systems (C, C1, C2), and one exit track (PU), with exit opening (U) coaxial to the lamination line (L). The entrance tracks (PE, PE1, PE2), and the exit track are arranged inside the oven, while inside the same oven, transfer mechanisms (15, 40) for the transfer of the slabs (B, B1, B2) one after the other from the entrance tracks (PE, PE1, PE2), to the exit track (PU) are provided for, in a manner which is transverse to their longitudinal extension.
