Abstract
An original pattern is first made, from this a sand mould is produced, a metal model is cast in the sand mould, and from this a second sand mould is produced. In parallel, and using the original pattern, a further sand mould is produced, is filled with tubes, and around the tubes material is packed and hardened to produce a core containing vacuum pipes to act as a vacuum core mould. On this vacuum core mould separating foils are produced. From the sand mould last produced in the first procedure, large numbers of production moulds are made. These production moulds are themselves cores for forming the steering wheel, and on which a separating foil made in the second procedure is placed. Onto this a mixt. of reinforcing fibres and binding agent is conventionally applied, and the binding agent is allowed to harden to give the finished product. A true surface is obtained, and the moulding does not adhere to the separating foil.
