Abstract
Fire or flame barrier material comprises: 6-100 pts. by wt. of an ethylene copolymer matrix (I), 50-450 pts. by wt. of an aluminium hydroxide (II), and 150-600 pts. by wt. of a cpd. (III) selected from calcium carbonate and calcium-magnesium carbonate. The compsn. further includes 11-30 pts. by wt. of an elasticiser (IV), 0-10 pts. by wt. of a polymer softening agent (V), 8-15 pts. by wt. of a lubricating agent (VI), 8-15 pts. by wt. of calcium oxide (VII) and 1 pt. by wt. of a colouring agent (VIII), and opt. an antioxidant (IX). Claimed use of (I) as ethylene-vinylacetate, ethylene-isobutyl acrylate and esp. ethylene-ethyl acrylate (7 are listed); (IV) as ethylene propane rubber; (VI) as paraffin wax; (VIII) as carbon black; and (IX) as poly trimethyl di-hydroquinoline in an amt. of 1.5 pts. by wt. 100 pts. by wt. of (I).
