Abstract

Synthetic, crystalline, porous materials, comprising oxides of Si and of Ti, of formula xTiO2(1-x)SiO2, are prepd. from (a) a source of oxides of Si and of Ti, (b) tetraalkylammonium hydroxides and opt. trialkylalkanol ammonium hydroxides, and water, in molar ratios: SiO2/TiO2 = 5-200, OH-/SiO2 = 0.1-2.0, H2O/SiO2 = 10-200, and RN+/SiO2 = 0.1-2. The hydroxides are tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide and methyl-tributyl ammonium hydroxide, used separately, or a mixt. of 2 or 3 or tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, tetraethyl ammonium hydroxide, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide, methyltributyl ammonium hydroxide, tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide and trimethylethanol ammonium hydroxide. The mixt. of reactants and water is heated in an autoclave at 90-200 deg.C and autoclave pressure for 10h -30 days, and the crystals are sepd., washed with water, dried, and heated in air at 450-700 deg.C for 1-72 h. x = 0.0005-0.04; RN+ = tetraalkylammonium cation.
