Abstract

Claimed are (1) new complexes of bismuth and antimony halides with amnes of formula R.(MeX3)y (I). (2) prepn. of the complexes; (3) thermoplastic polymer compsns, endowed with flame self-extinguishing properties, comprising the complexes; and (4) articles obtd. from the polymer compsns. In (I), R= amine selected from 2-guanidinobenzoimidazole, isophorondiamine, dicyandiamide, guanamine. melamine, piperazine- all opt. substd. by alkyl, aryl or acyl- and a cpd. contg. 2-9 triazo-rings condensed or linked to each other through at least a NH gp; He= bismuth orantimony; X= Cl or Br; and Y= 0.3-4. Pref MeX3 is BiBr3 or BiCl3 and R is selected from dicyandiamide, guanamine, melamine and the cpd contg. 2-9 triazo-rings, and y is 1.
