Abstract

A cloned and sequenced ECORI fragment of Bordetella pertussis chromosomal DNA with 4696 base pairs contains the genes which code for the 5 subunits of the pertussis toxin or further fragments, where the fragments contain at least one gene which codes for at least one subunit of the pertussis toxin, characterised by a given sequence. Also claimed is pertussis toxin in which the subunits S1,S2, S3, S4 are characterised by their aminoterminal sequences.
