Abstract

Recording and reproducing of a radiation image on a stimulable phosphor panel is carried out using a phosphor comprising an Sm- and/or Pr-activated rare earth oxyhalide, pref. a phosphor LaOBr : aA,bB where A = Sm and/or Pr; B = one or more of Tb, Eu and Ce; a = 10 power minus (8-4); and b = 0-10 power minus 4. The phosphor is stimulated with visible radiation and produces photo-detectable fluorescent light. Method, panel and phosphor are claimed.
