Abstract

Waters discharged from the first phase in olive oil prodn. are treated to obtain a purified effluent and valuable by-prods. by (1) pre-treatment to remove solids suspected of being over 5 mm in size; (2) micro-filtration or ultra-filtration one membranes which have a min. sepn. porosity of 2,000 and max. porosity of 0.8 micron; (3) passing over ionic exchange resin; and (4) a purificn. phase on reverse osmosis membranes.
