Abstract

A hub (1) and an annular shoulder (2) are bolted together and fitted with vents (3,9). A clamping disc (8) and a rim (4) with a ring lug (5) are inside, together with spring pads (13), reinforced and set between the disc and shoulder and lug sides. A third resilient pad consists of a silent block (14) which can rotate relative to hub or lug and has vents opposite its end faces, and linked to vent channels (17). To adjust axial wheel stiffness and ensure steady movement in locomotives imposing varied axial loading, the silent block end ring can adjust axially w.r.t. hub or lug inside surface. One end ring may be fitted with friction covers to reduce cohesion pulses during locomotive starts.
