Abstract
Device comprises (a) an open-celled, microporous, hydrophobic polymeric film (I); and (b) a layer of synthetic, pressure-sensitive adhesive, (II), which consists of high mol. wt. components that are resistant to migration into the pores of (I). (II) is sufficiently thick and continuous to hold (I) close to the openings of the sebaceous glands, yet sufficiently thin to permit passage of sebum through to the (I) pores. (I) is opaque to light or opalescent when its pores are filled with gaseous material but translucent when its pores are filled with sebum or another hydrophobic substance.
