Abstract

A combined buoyancy and mobility aid for use by swimmers, esp. beginners or competitors, comprises a combination of a double ended paddle and a chunky (spherical) or elongated float located at or connected to the centre of the paddle shaft. The float is pref. made of expanded polystyrene or polyurethane, alt. may be an inflatable envelope. No other specific material or physical characteristics quoted. A flexible coupling between the paddle shaft and one end of an elongated float may be of 'synthetic matl.', similar to that used to support the mast of a sailboard.
