Abstract

Connection insulators having a plurality of insulating compartments for electrically isolating electrical connections are made by supplying a first strip 28 of insulating material to a securing station 24 and supplying a second strip 38 of insulating material to a forming station 22 at a predetermined average rate of supply greater than the predetermined average rate of supply of the first strip, the pliability of the second strip being enhanced by heating the strip at 44. The second strip is deformed into predetermined patterns at the forming station and then moved into contact with the first strip at the securing station where the two strips are secured together by ultrasonic welding and then advanced to a cutting station 26, for severing the product. <IMAGE>
